QUETTA: Security forces arrested three Iranian nationals in Panjgur, near the Pakistan-Iran border, for illegally entering Pakistan.
Frontier Corps spokesman Khan Wasey, while talking to Dawn.com, said the arrested Iranians entered Pakistani territory without valid travel documents. Forces also took into custody a vehicle they were travelling in.
Wasey said the three persons were arrested under the Foreigners Act.
Recently, both Pakistan and Iran tightened security at the border along Taftan among other areas. High-level officials from both countries had met in Iran just a few days ago to discuss security issues at the porous border. The two countries had decided to strictly man the 900km long border and ensure only legal movement through it.
In another similar incident, security forces arrested two suspected militants at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Qamaruddin Karez Zhob. The FC spokesman said seven rockets, 14 improvised explosive devices, 12 anti-personnel mines and other weapons were recovered from the two individuals.
Khan Wasey said 26 bombs were also defused by security forces during the action. The identities of the suspected militants were not shared with media.
