The government is planning to introduce electronic motorcycles and rickshaws across the country.

This was stated by Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain during his visit to Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies in Islamabad today.

Chaudhry Fawad said Pakistan is among those countries which are using highest number of motorcycles.

He said Electronic motorcycles and rickshaws are the future of the country’s transportation system and soon these will be converted to electronic technology.

The Minister said the addition of electronic technology in the country would help decrease carbon from the environment.

did he actually say it in those words or did it get lost in translation?

I wouldn't trust Pakistani journalists and/or ministers to know the difference between electric and electronic
I was just wondering because we have electric motorcycles, these days electronics are in almost all machines whether running on petrol, diesel or electricity

OMG!
I just looked it up. it is on Radio Pakistan (Pakistani equivalent of the BBC) webpage

Great first step, but we need to consider infrastructure for charging and green sources of electricity.

.
Pollution = poison.
Electric vehicles should be produced in the thousands. It's beneficial for the environment and cuts down on petrol imports.

Yes but if the electricity produced is by furnace oil then it beats the point. Infact that would cause more harm as long transmission loses are added. We first need to make our electricity production carbon free or atleast majority of it.

Now days Pakistan barely produce any electricity from furnace oil.
