is a BT-5 the spanish redesignation for the t-26 ? if so the t-26 , cause it was before the Holocaust , such goof times

my least favorite tank are the merkava series which are only meant to be good photo shoots from exotic angles , otherwise from the front they look like a high profile , easy target "chariot" they are , kinda like the second world war sherman american tank

also their anti-RPG chain-balls at the rear of the tank only reflect the superstition of those who designed those craps and those who use them

merkava in hebrew means chariot , it's essentially a bastardization of the arabic Merkaba or مرکبه

My friend. IS-3 did not fight in the Second World War, it was created in the last days of War. It's elder brother - IS-2 fought with German heavy tanks. It was a good tank. Having much less weight than the German heavy tanks, it was approximately equal to them.

for your statement that the T-80 was the first tank with a gas turbine and the U.S copied this is bull

In August 1965 responding to a U.S. Government ‘Request for Quotation’, the Lycoming Division of the Avco Corporation in Stratford, Connecticut, submitted technical proposal LYP 2150.2 to the U.S. Army Tank
Automotive Center (ATAC) for a high concept 1,500 horsepower gas turbine engine - the PLT25. Ultimately known as the AGT1500, this engine eventually became the main power plant for the U.S. Army’s tank modernization program, culminating in 1979 with initial production of the M1 Abrams Tank.

This 16mm film footage recorded in 1970, shows an early Lycoming prototype of the AGT1500 Gas Turbine Engine operating as proof-of-concept in a slave M-48 tank chassis, in support of the development test program.

Found unedited in an old filing cabinet tagged for disposal, this rare corporate film provides an historical

After years of training with the BT and T-26, which formed the bulk of Soviet tank force, the first engagement came in Spain, during the Civil War. The “natural ally” of the socialist and communist dominated Republican party was the USSR. The Soviets sold them a total of 281 T-26 tanks (297 from other sources), starting in October 1936, alongside a dozen BT-5s and hundreds of armored cars. During the first engagements, the T-26 showed itself clearly superior to the bizarre collection of antiquated machines acquired from the most improbable sources and also to the tanks fielded by the Nationalists, ranging from Italians tankettes to the small Panzer I.

If not for an ever present aviation threat, the T-26 ruled the battlefield and raised some concerns among German tank specialists. During the battle of Guadalajara (March 1937), Republican T-26s completely eradicated armored opposition (mostly CV-33 and 35 Italian tankettes). It was a stunning victory, but the last for the “rojos”.

The BT-5 entered service in 1933 and, with gradual deliveries until 1935, equipped all armored cavalry brigades. The first active engagements came in Spain, in 1937, when a batch of 100 was shipped to the Republicans. They took part in the defense of Madrid. Some were captured later and saw service with the Nationalist Spanish state.
