This is the real ground situation, This law only makes things worse for the parents.

In India, we have free midday meal system in government schools where school kids are given free lunch in schools so they really don't need to skip school to earn money.

Punishing the father for not sending to schools sounds really stupid.

You have this system in some parts that too the quality of the food compromised which understandable as it costs huge amount not possible to meet.

In Pakistan we have some steps by government of giving cash as stipend to students specially in Punjab which had encouraged the parents to send their kids specially females to schools but again same as India its hard to sustain this for long and for all.

In Pakistan we also have free books in every govt school for kids but again its not enough as the families need food and for that they need money which again depends on employment of the head of the house or anyone in the house.

Does child labor account for children's not going to school? Practice of child labor is directly related to unemployment and lack of reasonable welfare initiative from the govt. Govt better treat the disease instead of treating the symptoms. More laws means more violations and more criminals, hence increasing number of people being detached from the sense of belonging with the nation.

The system is only for government schools(not for all type of government schools) and with it India reached the primary school enrollment to 99.99% in 2008. Meal is vegetarian but eggs were included later on.

I have seen that many parent send their kids to madrissa if they dont have enough income to feed/support them..Its less for education but more for free accommodation/food

Education is important but people think about education after having basic necessities which is food, shelter, accomodation
