We need to get off the Grey list. It's hurting us economically.
It comes down to what is more acceptable/palatable for Pakistan to take on. If doing some of the things that the FATF requires hurt our long terms interests, then it won't happen and Pakistan will weather the pain that comes with being on the FATF's list. Think back to the US sanctions on Pakistan in the 90s and Pakistan sticking to its guns on Afghanistan even if it meant loss of US assistance.

For countries looking to go their own way (and in cases of going against the grain), this is part of life.
As an example, consider Turkey. They are taking on a lot of criticism, even sanctions (US holding back sales of fifth gen. fighters, etc.) because the Turks want to maintain their independent policies on Syria/Kurdish issues.

A lot of times, people lose sight of this and complain about losing foreign investment etc. etc. Yes that hurts, but the alternatives could be more corrosive in the long term.

I get that sir and in fact from this perspective i agree however NS government and before him Zardari government has brought us to a point where our reserves are dwindling down and PM sab has to run to one country or the other to avert balance of payment crisis. If Pakistan has to borrow money from any of the international institutions or we want FDI than being on grey list hurts us. Plus India continues to uses this plot every now and than to get us blacklisted like they tried this time. Being on the grey list will have this sword on us at all times.
I believe without comprising on our core interests as you pointed out, now that the US needs us more than before, we should simply tell the US to vote for us to get us out because remember it was the US who did this to begin with before our cards with the US run out. Even today i heard Trump saying our relations with Pakistan has improved significantly. This is the same Trump who accused us of lies and deceit. So we should be using this and while we facilitate US face saving, the least US can do for is to return the favor.
