You forget that the entire region has AFSPA on it. Riots is no threat if necessary. The 90s were a testing time when we were poor and limited and lost a lot of troops to militant activities. Despite that, we took an iron stance. What makes you think that things would be any softer now?

AFSPA simply means that it is pure mercy and benevolence of the military if these things are being allowed to happen.

If push gets to shove, it is as good as an emergency where shock troops can be sent in for the much-needed cleansing process.
