Fareed's Take: Pakistan's chance to become a normal country

Why are we surprised at or even bothering about what Fareed Zakaria says about Pakistan? Do we give a damn what Salman Rushdie says about Pakistan?

Zakaria is an intelligent man and qualified for his job but, as an Indian-American, his anti-Pakistan bias is well known.

I really don't care what he has to say But people like Anderson Cooper, Katie Couric (CBS) might not be as 'smart' & 'intelligent' as him, but they seem more sincere & honest in their reporting than he is.

Again tell me, where has Fareed Zakaria lived for a long period of time outside the US, & done serious journalism on? People like Robert Fisk, Tariq Ali, Noam Chomsky, Christopher Hitchens, Norman Finkenstein etc that have spent a significant part of their lives abroad or dedicated their lives on a particular subject/area of study without having any pre-planned agenda are real intellects. And Fareed Zakaria is not one of them, despite how many people he's interviewed as a TV anchor. At the end of the day, he has to air the views of the channel. He might be a very smart guy, but he's not really an intellect. I stand by what I said.

I think you have a different definition for intellect. Fareed is an analyst not investigative Journalist. I hope you know the difference.

I never mentioned if he was an analyst or an investigative journalist. I said he was an anchor that has been analyzing events from a distance in the US, & does not have on ground, 'practical' knowledge of what he is talking about, especially in relation to the Middle East. Robert Fisk, who has lived 35 years in the Middle East, has done proper research about the Arab world, he's analyzed things on the ground, he speaks various languages, & that makes him real thinker & analyst unlike Fareed Zakaria.

I'm talking in terms of his geopolitics not religion he has no credibility when it comes to pakistan he's an indian living in america and he's never even stepped foot there in pakistan he is not an authority on our affairs.He can stick to india and islam.

The Americans invaded Afghanistan to destroy Al Quaida. You guys must be happy they are not doing same in your country in spite of Pakistan having more anti-American terrorists than Afghanistan.

BTW, The programme is intended for American audience. Your banning of the channel is not going to affect them.

America can't invade Pakistan where have you come from. It is a embarassment they managed to get into our country and attack us but a full on invasion is impossible. Pakistan has a powerful defence. The US need Pak on this WoT otherwise there troops supply lines will be cut off. Plus US If it did make Pak a enemy then they can say goodbye to it's superpower cos we will be 50x harder to fight and will cost more.

You know I used to listen to this guy on a regular basis and agreed with a lot of his points about the world affairs. But you know what I realized over time? When it comes to Pakistan he has nothing but contempt. Never once I heard anything positive come out from his mouth about us. Just a few days ago when (Supposable) Bin-Laden got caught it was him who started all this Anti-Pakistan rhetoric labeling us as incompetent. In just about everyone of his interviews he is either comparing India to rest of the world or trying belittle Pakistan to the rest of the world. Eventually, I stopped watching his program altogether as I lost what little respect I had left for him.
