Family of Syrian toddler on Turkish beach tried to reach Canada: report

It's duty of those countries who covertly or overtly supported the conflict on either side, to accept these fleeing refugees. No child in this world deserves to be taken away from this world in such a heartwrenching manner. Feeling really sad...

.
Just heart breaking.. As a father of two i don't have the strength to see something like that.. Curse humanity for being so inhuman.. Every single bastard that is responsible for this conflict in Syria will face his/her karma

Tell that to the US and Israel. They are the mastermind behind the Arab spring.

.
Europe should not have to bear the brunt alone, Turkey has taken in a million so asking them to do more is not proper. Where are the rich gulf states in terms of taking in syrians?

Because they dont give a flying feck about their Muslim brotherhood.. How many refugees have those bastards taken in ? Saudi Arabia ? Bahrain ? Kuwait ? UAE ? Qatar ?.. Nil.. Zero, They are directly sponsoring this murder

And there are still Muslims elsewhere sucking up to them shamelessly

.
Despite their proximity to Syria, no Syrians claiming asylum have been taken in by Saudi Arabia or other wealthy Gulf countries. Truly a shameless posture from Arabs.

Is that why the GCC is the biggest humanitarian donor among Muslim countries in Syria and Iraq and why GCC hosts more Muslim migrants than any other Muslim country?

Who do you think is paying for the refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, the food, clothes etc. that the almost 2 millions of refugees there alone get? To a great deal the GCC.

The GCC does not border Syria directly and those refugees want to live in Western Europe. Hence they are migrating there.

Yes, directly sponsoring by not supporting the mass-murdering Al-Assad regime that have killed the vast majority of the civilians in the Syrian civil war and which has destroyed the country that he has ruled with a harsh hand for 15 years.

Yes, while a Sri Lankan like you is sucking up to the insane Mullah's of Iran who since they took power in 1979 have been the main source for instability in the region. In fact since their so-called "Islamic" revolution. Before 1979 the only conflicts in the MNEA region where conflicts bound in the Cold War. US/West vs the Soviet Union and their allies.

For you information Iran has taken 0 refugees in as well. At least KSA hosts over 1 million Syrian refugees and migrants who migrated to KSA before the Syrian civil war.

-------------

In any case more should be done but the solution is not to take the refugees in but to end the conflict in Syria and find a political solution. Something that the entire world has been unable to but the final responsibility rests among the Syrians. They have the keys to peace.

None of this would have happened had the US not invaded Iraq in 2003. KSA warned the world what would happen and they were spot on. Especially the late Saud al-Faisal who was arguably one of the most hardened foreign diplomats of his era.

"If change of regime comes with the destruction of Iraq, then you are solving one problem and creating five more problems.

"That is the consideration that we have to make, because we are living in the region. We will suffer the consequences of any military action."

Regime change can only be a possibility if it is done "indigenously", he said.

"There has never been in the history of the world a country in which a regime change happened at the bayonets of guns that has led to stability."

BODRUM: The father of a three-year-old Syrian boy, whose body was washed up on a Turkish beach in an image that shocked the world, said Thursday his children “slipped through my hands” as their boat was taking in water on its way to Greece.

Abdullah, whose surname is given by Turkish media as Kurdi but sources in Syria say is actually called Shenu, lost his three-year-old son Aylan, four-year-old son Ghaleb and wife Rihana in the tragedy.

“I was holding my wife's hand. But my children slipped through my hands. It was dark and everyone was screaming,” Abdullah Kurdi told Turkey's Dogan news agency of the moment the dinghy began to sink.

“We tried to cling to the small boat, but it was deflating. “Abdullah cut an inconsolable figure sitting outside the morgue in Bodrum on Thursday, staring blankly into his mobile phone as he waited for the coffins of his family to be loaded onto a municipal van, an AFP photographer reported.

Twelve Syrian migrants drowned on Wednesday when two boats sank in Turkish waters as they were heading towards the Greek island of Kos, in the latest tragedy to hit migrants in the Aegean.

But attention has focused on three-year-old Aylan, whose tiny body was photographed washed up on a beach in the resort of Bodrum in an image that quickly became a viral symbol of the tragedy of refugees. In a second image, a Turkish security officer cradles the boy in his arms.

Abdullah had been trying to cross along with his family and up to three other Syrians from the flashpoint town of Kobane that last year was the subject of a months-long battle between Kurdish militias and militants, Turkish media said.

The Ottawa Citizen newspaper reported that the family had ultimately been trying to immigrate to Canada.

It said his sister Teema — a Vancouver hairdresser who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago — had sponsored a refugee application that Canada's immigration authorities rejected in June.

“I was trying to sponsor them, and I have my friends and my neighbours who helped me with the bank deposits, but we couldn't get them out, and that is why they went in the boat,” the newspaper quoted Teema Kurdi as saying.

Tried to swim for the shore
Abdullah said the boat started to take in water shortly after it set off in the dead of the night, sending the migrants on board into a panic.

“The boat started to take in water 500 meters from the shore. Our feet were wet,” he said.

He tried to take hold of his children and his wife as he clung to the capsized boat, but they were quickly washed away.

“I tried to swim to the shore with the help of the lights but couldn't find my wife and children once I was there. I thought they got scared and ran away,” he said.

“When I couldn't find them in our meeting point in the city (Bodrum) where we normally meet, I went to the hospital. And got the bad news.” He confirmed the family had wanted to go to Canada but now only wants to return to Kobane to bury his family.

A hospital official in Bodrum told AFP that the bodies would be flown to Istanbul late Thursday and then to the Turkish border town of Suruc before reaching their final destination of Kobane.

Mustefa Ebdi, a journalist in Kobane on the Turkish border in northern Syria, said the family had been living in Damascus up to 2012 but been forced to flee the war's instability multiple times.

After repeatedly moving back and forth, they decided to move to Europe through Turkey when in June militants re-entered the flashpoint town, holding hostages in a two-day stand-off that left more than 200 civilians dead.

Ebdi said they stayed in Bodrum for one month, saving money and borrowing from relatives for the journey.

“They left to try to find a better life”
Abdullah was quoted as saying by Dogan that the family had paid people-smugglers twice in the past to travel to Kos.

“At first attempt, the coastguard officials detained us and we were later released,” he said.

The next time “the traffickers (organisers) didn't keep their promises and didn't show up with the boat”. As a result of their previous experiences they had decided to embark on the final fatal journey independently.

As a result they, and the other Syrians from their hometown, “obtained a boat by our own means and tried to cross to the other side”. Turkish authorities arrested four suspected people smugglers — Syrian nationals aged between 30 and 41 — over the twin accidents that killed Aylan and the 11 others.

They are accused of “causing the death of more than one person” and “trafficking migrants”, the Dogan news agency reported.

“The body of a three-year-old child who died on a boat in the Mediterranean Sea carrying refugees washed up on our shores,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Will the whole of humanity not account for this three-year-old-child on our shores?” Erdogan asked.

It is interesting that none of the rich Islamic state not receiving this refugees.

What a shame .....

The GCC already hosts the highest number of Muslim migrants and migrants overall in the Muslim world. By far. Both in terms of sheer numbers and percentage.

KSA is at war currently and already deals with Yemeni refugees crossing the border each single day or attempting to do so.

The GCC can take more refugees from Syria but that will mean that a large number of Arab, South Asians and African migrants would have to leave. That would again mean billions of dollars in vital remittances lost for many South Asian and African countries.

GCC cannot both be the leading humanitarian donors of all Muslim countries, hosting the highest number of Muslim migrants + taking millions of refugees in.

Lastly the GCC are not democracies. Citizenship is not given away like in the West. Those are totally different systems. For this to occur the systems in the GCC would have to change. Locals would have to pay taxes etc. There is a limit to what even very rich states can do.

Besides as bad as it is in Europe then it's NOTHING compared to what countries like Jordan and Lebanon (those two especially) and Turkey are facing. I mean almost 30% of Lebanon's current population is made up by Syrian refugees.

Lastly this is a failure of not only Arab leaderships but the world as a whole. We ordinary people cannot do anything and I am probably more angry/disappointed about this whole situation than most users here. Including with the Arab and Muslim "leaders".

There's already over 1.2 million Syrians in Saudi Arabia, the real question is how many Syrians are in Iran/Russia/China? Since all the mess is cuz of their support to Asshead regime

That number is a forgery. Most of the whereabouts of the refugees are being tracked current estimates put the number at 4million total refugees. Turkey has been affirmed as having the largest at 1m yet you say KSA has 1.2m which would mean more then 1/4 the total. Lol

Because they dont give a flying feck about their Muslim brotherhood.. How many refugees have those bastards taken in ? Saudi Arabia ? Bahrain ? Kuwait ? UAE ? Qatar ?.. Nil.. Zero, They are directly sponsoring this murder

It was a rhetorical question, and I agree.

Read my posts in this thread. Those are Syrians that migrated as refugees to KSA before the civil war in Syria started. At that time only a few nearby Arab states and certain Western European states + the US took in Syrian refugees. This is not the first time that Syria faces internal conflicts or wars in recent decades.

Also KSA along with the GCC remain the main humanitarian donors in Syria + Iraq.

Last summer alone KSA donated 500 million dollars to Iraq.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/02/w...abia-500-million-iraq-relief-effort.html?_r=0

Constant donations are made each week and whole hospitals + refugee camps in mainly Jordan but also Lebanon are run and entirely financed by KSA and other GCC countries.

Organizations like Saudi Red Crescent have been at the forefront since the conflict in Syria started and donations are present all over KSA in mosques, TV shows with this purpose are made etc.

Also KSA is in the middle of a war and already has Yemeni migrants/refugees to take care of.

See my previous posts once again.

Instead of pointing fingers at the GCC as usual where is Russia (the main supporter of the murderous Al-Assad regime) and Iran? Zero in aid and zero refugees taken. Before, today and after.

Refugees are not being given citizenship by Euros they are being given safety that is all. Gulf states would not have to give citizenship to them at all, btw using the excuse of migrants is also hollow considering Europeans deal with migrants along with the refugees as well. Btw why would migrants have to go? Don't they get paid for the work they do which they then use to pay for their own expenses while in the country. I am pretty sure they do, so then what is the main issue? If there is enough money to arm rebels there should be enough to set up tents for refugees.

Russia I will give you but For the refugees to get to Iran they would have to pass through ISIS territories then Iraqi border before they can even get to Iran. Since Turkey leads right into Europe it makes little sense for them to go to Iran instead.

What? Care to tell me how millions of political refugees have been able to obtain citizenship all over the EU? From almost every non-Western country? Many of those refugees will eventually become citizens as the current laws stand in most countries.

I already told you that the GCC cannot both host the highest number of Muslim migrants/refugees on the planet, being the biggest humanitarian donor in the Muslim world PLUS also hosting millions upon millions of refugees. If Syria did border KSA or other GCC countries directly KSA would have taken those refugees in, just like KSA hosted almost 100.000 Iraqi Shia Arabs after the First Gulf War and after the Shia Uprisings in the South.

International Red Cross Helping Iraq Refugees

You are making it sound like KSA and the GCC are doing nothing which is a blatant lie. All while ignoring the role of others in the conflict (Iran + Russia) who are the main source for the murderous Al-Assad regime being able to continue their havoc in Syria.

Also there is no single person in KSA or the GCC that I know of, here or elsewhere, who is content with the current situation but sadly this is up to the leaders and all the regional leaders + world community as a whole has failed to a large extend in this regard by not doing enough.

People on PDF like to talk about all matters just to have an opinion even those that they know little about or not enough about.

Russia I will give you but For the refugees to get to Iran they would have to pass through ISIS territories then Iraqi border before they can even get to Iran. Since Turkey leads right into Europe it makes little sense for them to go to Iran instead.

Using that excuse they won't be able to reach KSA either as most of Al-Anbar is and has been controlled by Daesh.

Iran had always been supporting refugees from wherever they came. 4 million Afghan refugees and millions of Iraqis. If there were Syrian at our border I am sure they would have been welcomed in. All the refugees in middle east is because of 30 years of your Wahabi government support of sectarian strife as Freedman eloquently put in his article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/02/o...ur-radical-islamic-bff-saudi-arabia.html?_r=0

Saudi Arabia shit smells so bad that even your allies have realized and can not deny it. The conflict in Syria is all funded by despotic regimes and corrupt Arab leaders who wanted to divert attention form Arab spring and neutralize Arab population by diverting their attention and will towards a made crisis. The Assad family in Syria may be tyrants but they are not less tyrannical than your Kings and princes and they have one distinguished difference and that is they do not support Wahhabi backward ideology unlike Saudi Arabia , Qatar and many GCC countries do. If it was not because of Iran support for current legitimate Syrian government, Saudi supported ISIS killings were widespread in all cities in Syria.
So spare you propaganda for shit headed, uneducated Wahhabis like yourself and come to reality. Support unconditional UN monitored election in Syria and see who wins and accept the mandate towards ending the conflict if there is any shred of humanity left in your Wahabi infested mind.

Funny and sad to see Saudi Arabia monsters calling for democracy and against tyranny!
