i think you are a bit wrong saying we didnt want reunification of kashmir we still do, but we have understood that at the current state its not viable, focusing on our economy and strengthening so that later, may it take a century we can hve huge leverage. Pakistan otoh doesnt have that time. Thats why they want to negotiate now. The amount of focus and money they drain due to it is overwhelming and thats why their economy is in doldrums. its a long term but clever approach. Btw, Indus' source is in China, and not india. india can only slow down Indus if it breaks Indus Water Treaty, but it can not never 'dry' indus or change its course. BTW India is already building canals and Dams over the source of Indus. You just have to google it to know what I am saying is true. So unless china can Air Lift the Indus over India, Indus water treaty is still your best chance to have a drink of water.
