For Pakistan I must say may be served until 2050 but rest of the world will start replacing it very soon.

A decade is more than enough time for us to perfect JF-17. Then we can start thinking about retiring F-16.

i seriously doubt JFT will ever become more capable then F-16 Blk 52 until it gets massive upgrades in engine and avionics . after about 6 years in service it cannot carry laser guided bombs. due to the high fuel consumption it will have to carry three external fuel tanks leaving only 4 stations available for weapons and bombs. it means very limited ground strike capability and 2 WVR and 2 BVR missiles for air to air roles. right now the advantages of F-16 over JFT are huge i.e. 11 hard points, more payload, powerful engine, better radar, JHMCS, ability to carry JDAMs, laser guided munitions,AIDEWS, greater range , max speed etc. the only advantage JFT has over PAF F-16s is that JFT carries anti ship missiles. it is very clear that either JFT will never make up to the level of Blik 52 falcons or it will take atleast 2 more decades and by that time all 4th gen jets will be obsolete.

Only if the americans could design their cars like that.

No Doubt, The design is master piece and breath taking as the 1970s design is that much awesome and still we Pakistanis are mesmerized by the FALCON.

Israel, India, US same and i am against them so i am with rest of the people.

Our arch enemy always had a numerical superiority over us but the question is what if..... and that if is pending for a decade and more. However presently it's check mate.

I think it is the job of people in Kamra to work out solutions to the points you mentioned above. If IRST pod is installed in block 3 then one more hard point is gone. AESA radar is big and it would require some structural changes in frame. Our aeronautical engineers must be having some sleepless nights. Lets hope they are up to it.

JFT is a good replacement for F-7, A 5 and mirages but it will never be able to compete with the F-16. about 15 years from today the 5th gen jets will be the front line of majority of the air forces and today's 4th and 4.5th gen jets will be in supporting role. JFT if not upgraded to 4.5 th gen jet will become obsolete after next 10 years. JFT needs upgraded engine, AESA radar, HMCS, more hard points, greater range and payload, IRST etc if it wants to live beyond 2025 that too in supporting role. our F-16s in present configuration are capable to perform the supporting role 10 -15 yrs from today but PAF will definitely need a 5th gen jet as front line fighter.

True and its a Fact. Low cost means compromising on quality and high quality gadgets require funds.

For american cars---the comparison would be like a Dodge Avenger---Chrysler 200----Ford Taurus---Chevy Malibu.

Engines can be purchased from UK after Brexit they need business to run. The Pound is collapsing so it would be at a good price.

F-16's replacement is not going to be JF-17 bit some 5th Generation aircraft probably a single engine one designed on either on JF-17 or TFX single engine. In 10 years time PAF would have possibly TFX and Chinese Stealth aircraft to choose on but it would rather try to diversify by indigenous fifth gen solution from the aviation city that has recently been inaugurated.

Agreed. so we should hope the boys at Kamra or the new aviation city which is going to be built will start working on a fifth generation aircraft.

F 16 is a general duty aircraft----that is why it is compared to general duty cars---just for an example.

Toyota and hondas are more reliable that the Rolls Royce---+ they are less expensive to maintain---like the F16.
