Interesting, I am a keen metal detectorist and as well as the 16th Century coins I sometimes find around the village where I live also the odd metal artifacts, the latest is a Falconers whistle of Bronze, circa 16th/17th Century.. which shows Falconry was popular in Scotland for centuries.

Actually the two short videos I posted about falconry deal with falconry in the UK as well. Falconry was popular in Europe, the Middle East and practically most of the world where falcons lived. For hunting, to keep them as pets and for prestige. Falcons to this very day are very expensive. There is a huge business. Like with horses etc. You should watch those two videos if it has any interest.

I have some very old and valuable coins too that I have been given by my grandfather but I am not a collector by any means. If I had a few millions I would collect art or something as valuable though.

That's ok. Just tagged you because it was Iraq and it might have interested you. I am not that interested either but I find it very interesting and beautiful. I am not a falconer either.

This video is amazing. It is from the desert areas near Abu Dhabi in UAE. A bird's-eye view. In this case a falcon.

funny fact,most of the falcons are breed here in germany and sold to arabia. I even know a guy who lives near Oberhof who breeds falcons and sells them to Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Not really. It is a minority. The ones that are bought from abroad are mostly brought from Hungary, Mongolia or Kazakhstan. Aside from the local ones.
But there are many collectors that are buying the very best from across the world. Sometimes they get accused of greed.

All of the best falcon species are found locally in the Arab world in the winter periods in abundance nearly. Some are not staying all year around though since most are migratory.

Yes we do. Wanderfalke translates to Peregrine Falcons when doing a quick search on Google. They are both a breeding resident and a winter visitor on the Arabian Peninsula. But not all parts of the Arab world.

Yes, I know. There are large breedings done in those two countries. But the most famous European country for falcons is Hungary. Mostly in the South of Germany and North of Italy if I remember. Correct me if I am wrong. I would encourage you to watch the two short video clips about falconry I posted. They deal with all parts of the world. It is great for those who want a short introduction.
