those MQM guys are respected by millions in karachi , and their is a day dedicated as a martyrs day ... thousands come to say prayers and pay respects Where as this general babr is now dead , vanished from history , hated by millions and may be few ignorant people pay him respects .. well there are people who praise hitler and yazid.. but there is a big difference try and figure its not too difficult
Brother, all innocent blood lost is something most sad and unfortunate but it was not as simple a matter of peace being shattered by Babur and co.
Gen Babur was not an evil man nor was he responsible for starting the violence.
Things were quite messed up when Babur was tasked to clean up the streets.
Let us not pretend that there were no armed parties fighting for control in Karachi before the paramilitaries were engaged, daily assassinations were being carried out and MQM, MQM Haqiqi, Sindhi nationalist parties etc. were all fighting each other.
The operation was carried out to clean up the militants and not to kill the women and children.
Thankfully things improved after wards, let us hope it continues to be this way.
MQM has to evolve and i am sure the more they distant themselves from gang wars, the more stronger they shall become.
No doubt PPP has become a huge thug under Zardari, however this can prove to be their undoing in the future.
We need middle class to have more say in the politics of the country and MQM can play a pivotal role in this regards.
I am happy with what MQM did in Karachi during Musharraf era, however it needs to become more and more Pakistani and less Mohajir in its outlook. Maybe down the line this shall practically happen, i shall welcome such a change.
Let us hope the senseless antics of Zardari and co really bite them in the behind in the next elections.
