I don’t know much about how this website operates but I would like to suggest that some factual pages be set-up and maintained outside the forum. I don’t know if I am the only one but sometimes the forums feed on rumors and misinformation. I would like to suggest, if possible, that pages be set-up, say for the JF-17 or PAF Mirage III and a keen member be asked to mind the page. These pages will just be FACTSHEETS with valid links and references and no speculation. They will not be discussion boards.

We have a member here, Hj108 who does a good job on wiki for the JF-17. The idea is to identify a few member like that and have them look after a page or two and maintain accurate information.

We get a lot of people coming here sometime asking basic question on one branch of the armed forces or another. Such factsheets will be a very good starting point too.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hello, this issue is to be fixed soon. But we do need help in maintaining such information. Are you interested in doing this work and recruiting others who are might be interested in as well?

Thought....... ...........:

1) Well, most of the basic questions you are talking about are facts already easily available on the net, the easiest being Wiki or google. If people just search out there, there wont be any need to be bothered about it  So, they need to be educated, like say, new members after their membership be given a note to read.

2) I do some maintenance/ looking after some articles here and there on the net, so if you need help maybe I can help

3) Another easy way would be to: e.g. : in a thread on JF-17, if relevant facts are not given at the beginning, a mod/volunteer should post all the facts at the beginning or ask the thread starter to do so. The same should go for links and references on any news/story being posted.

SO! :azn:  or

Sure, count me in. I woul be happy to mind a page, keep it updated with as much factual and confirmed information as possible. JF-17 would be my first choice and that is the one particular plane I have absorbed myself into. I could help a bit on the F-7s too is need be.

Good stuff, and feel free to PM others who might be interested in this frame work also!

I'm in. I'll help with anything, I have experience building articles on JF-17, Mirage ROSE upgrades, Al-Khalid, the list goes on really. I have collected a nice list of reliable references on the JF-17's development.

Webby please contact me when you have pages set up and need content for JF-17, J-10, Al-Khalid, Al-Zarrar, Mirage III/5 ROSE upgrades, Chengdu F-7P, Chengdu F-7PG, Shenyang F-6, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.

hand me any page you like, i'll keep things factual plus i have to say this though I am not sure:

Besides military tech I have some specific interest in Islam related subjects, if my help is needed in that part, i'll lend it, (without a fee of course ) plus it will be non-biased, all sects, just Quran and Sahih Hadith.

But if that is for the mods alone then I'm good with the military threads, any of them, SO

 OR

this is all very good - just one piece of advice - wiki is not a good source - a lot of speculation happens on that site - JMHO!

the other issue is the "fanboys" on this forum dont want to do the hard work of finding the info for any issue / item - it is all available within this forum

eg; i have posted detailed information on the PA / IA / BD Armies. all one has to do is search and review and one can get answers - Blain2 was nice to convert them into stickies (even though the IA stickey has gone!) so that the data is not lost!

u guys wanna do what you are proposing! go right ahead but this problem will remain!

Yeah I agree! the basic problem is, people dont search and research before posting or starting a new thread, as I said, if they just did that or if a mod did it for them if they didnt then everything would be fine.

I agree, Wiki is not reliable, they dont call it an open source for nothing, everyone can edit.

Exactly why I think we need "factsheets" here we have better control and limit who can and cannot edit. Besides people who are lazy to research, I think for the purpuse of discussions, it is good to know the page with the necessary and accurate facts is only a click away.

I am now learning that same topics and issues tend to come back into play time and again - never is a topic exhausated and put to rest.
