Caradvice, Australian Media Authority: How Dare Haval H9 Call Itself An All-Terrain SUV?
Category: Enterprise News 2016-02-24
On February 19, 2016, with the opening of the 5th Exclusive Store of Haval in Brisbane, Australia, the unstoppable expansion of Haval arouses the interest of dozens of Australian authoritative automotive media in evaluating Haval vehicles by test drive.
Recently, Caradvice, one of the automobile media authorities in Australia, made the evaluation of Haval H9 after test drive, focusing on its all-terrain control system. What is a so-called “all-terrain vehicle”? It refers to vehicle which is able to run on any terrain where other ordinary vehicles cannot, and this is just what Haval H9 calls itself, an all-terrain SUV. But what gives it the strength to make it fit?
Source of Strength No.1: All-Terrain Control System, Unlimited Driving
The article said, the all-terrain control system can be called one of the highlights of Haval H9. With the independent research and development by Great Wall Motors, the function of the all-terrain control system is of the same control performance compared with the “Terrain Response System” on Land Rover or all-terrain control system on JEEP. This terrain control system supports 6 different driving modes, including AUTO, sports, sand, snow, mud, 4L (4WD Low-range) which can be switched according to specific road conditions to achieve great trafficability based on the set parameters.
Source of Strength No.2: Separate Frame Construction + Off-Road Suspension, Better Technique
H9 applies the separate frame construction which is widely used on off-road vehicles, not only to ensure the car body with a higher structural strength, but also to make the ground clearance and maximum fording depth of H9 reach 206mm and 700mm respectively. There are also 28-degrees of approach angle and 23-degrees of departure angle separately. . To some extent, the inherent advantage of separate frame construction ensures good trafficability and excellent corrugation absorption on bumpy roads. That’s why the driving experience brought by the solid chassis of H9 is unforgettable.
The H9 rides on fairly sophisticated double wishbone suspension at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear. This kind of suspension combination can be described as the classic structure used on off-road SUVs, like Toyota PRADO and LAND CRUISER. Besides, the article is also positive with the suspension, saying that double wishbone independent front suspension provides a better ground adherence, greater lateral stiffness, excellent anti-roll performance, better gripping performance and clear steering while the rear suspension applies the five-link non-independent suspension so that the wheels will run in a more reliable way and the stability and comfort during accelerating and braking will be improved.
Source of Strength No.3: HDC+HAC and with Outdoor Integrated Display, Multi-layer protection
HDC is applied to all series of Haval H9 and you’d better not underestimate this function, because it will drive the car at a uniform speed once on the downhill. In the meantime, the driver has to do nothing but hold the steering wheel. The greatest point of HDC lies in its intelligence. When you turn on HDC, only a bit of acceleration will release HDC automatically, and once you stop acceleration, it will function again.
To start HAC, 3 conditions shall be met: 1. The gear lever shall not be in the P position and the accelerating pedal should not be pushed; 2 The vehicle shall be in a static state; 3. The handbrake is not pulled up. When the driver’s foot moves away from the braking pedal, HAC will get start. Though the handbrake is not used, the vehicle will not slip down on the hill and will be in the static state for a few seconds. With the help of HAC, the driver is able to move his/her foot from the braking pedal onto the accelerating pedal easily and it avoids the inconvenience and problems when using the handbrake to make a hill start. Besides, HAC will also function when reversing on a hill.
People should avoid getting lost or being unaware of the surroundings when off-roading, otherwise, they might be in a panic even with a map in their hand. The article said, another off-road property highlight of Haval H9 is the Outdoor Integrated Display applied to all series, which shows the real-time air pressures, elevations, pitch and roll angles, direction of the road you’re driving on. A bit like a Pajero. Although it’s only a tiny function, it will be very helpful when driving off-road and we can tell that Haval H9 is very hard on details. Consequently, it is with such great techniques that make Haval H9 full of confidence.
Since its launch in October 2015, Haval brand has won the praise of both the Australian media and consumers. With its handsome appearance and excellent performance, the Haval brand has been gradually getting consumers’ interest, and is expected to exhibit a better performance.
