MENLO PARK, Calif. (KGO) --
Facebook could be slapped with a $2 trillion fine over the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

If the company is found to have violated the FTC consent decree, reports say each violation could cost $40,000.

It is estimated 50 million users had their personal information shared with Cambridge Analytica. 50 million violations each costing 40,000 is how you get to $2 trillion.

TIPS: How to unlink Facebook account from third party apps

Meanwhile politicians in Washington are more than willing to take up CEO Mark Zuckerberg's offer to testify about the scandal. The House Energy and Commerce Committee says Zuckerberg "is the right witness to provide answers to the American people."

Reports say the panel will send him a letter soon.

The current solution is to dissolve facebook and give user change to recover data once for all. This is poison and far bigger weapon in hands of few and needs to get rid of it for a healthy society.

Facebook itself does not worth 2 trillion dollars ,how they will ever be able to pay that much fine?

Now mark zuckerberg should come to pakistan invest here and make datacenters here and settled in Pakistan and be free from these laws lol as law in pakista is for poor.

I just deactivated my account... Bye bye Facebook crap.
I never had one to begin with, I used to have a myspace account. I think I still do, but stopped using that when I left college! All the friends I have or want to keep in touch with, I have their mobile numbers and meet them once a week, long distance people, well they can send me an email or a card :).

If it goes down that route then Facebook will sell all your information since it's going to go bankrupt anyways...

Ha, ha.. I was the same... I also had a MySpace which didn't go anywhere.. i also had a Facebook which i rarely used. My only friends on that were my wife, and two other really good friends on mine..

I hate it when Facebook's recommend "friends" for me who are people I have never met... I have a different definition of what a "friend" is.... a friend is someone who you can trust and count on and has your back. An I am not narcissistic enough to post pics of my every two minute accomplishment s!

:)
