F7PG The Nimble PAF Fighter Nobody Talks About

.
F7 is a licensed Chinese version of MIG 21.
But I've heard that the design of these two jets isn't the same and F7 is performance wise slightly better than MIG 21?
Can anyone here shed some light on this issue?

The BAFs improved J-7BGI variant looks mean.

This video claims they are BVR capable and can be equipped with PL-12(SD 10).

What is the missile on this aircraft?

The top pic shows F-7MB (however, that camo is menacing for sure)

The last missile in question is likely a PL-9C training round.

Also, highly doubt BAF F-7BG/BGI can mount SD-10. (Also no SD-10 in BAF service)

Back to regularly scheduled PAF programming........

Pretty adequate for defending the western borders with Afghanistan and Iran. F-7BGs of Bangladesh were supposed to be the most advance J-7 variants. There was claim of F-7BGs being BVR capable, is it true?
It is reported on net that F7BGs have long range radar of Chinese origin range is about 80 KM so pretty much BVR capable.

F-7PGs and their predecessors were always in the fore front, on any escalations and challenges the Indians presented. Soon after the Mumbai incident in 2008 the F-7PGs were over Lahore within minutes.

I am glad finally someone said something. Most of our friends here don't even know what the capabilites of the PG's are. They just see the fancy shiny EuroFighters and they want that. PG' are by far one of the most deadliest combat aircraft in WVR fight. There have been not one but multiple occasions where the Vipers got dominated by the PG's in DACT exercises. These aircrafts are still very relevant for the next 10 years, as the majority of the battles against the IAF will still be fought in WVR in a Total War.
You know that USAF instructor pilots also best F-16s, F-15s and F-18s every day as well while flying F-5s right?

The both have their pros and cons. F7 is lighter than the Mig21.
One of the most visible differences between the two jets is the way the Canopy opens.
In the case of a J-7/ F-7 the canopy opens towards the axis of the aircraft and the pilot has a better all round view.

In the case of an IAF MiG 21 Bison, the canopy opens sideways .

The shock cone and front air intake section of the MiG 21 Bison also seems to be larger than the shock cone section of the Chengdu F7

Further, if you pay close attention you may also be able to spot a difference in the shape of their wings.

F-7BG upgraded with J-7G technology for Bangladesh. Unlike other cheaper and downgraded export variants of J-7G, the F-7BGI (I for Improved) is in fact more advanced than J-7G it is developed from. Improvements of F-7BGI over F-7BG such as 3 MFDs and more powerful fire control radar would in turn, incorporated to J-7G2 developed later. The capability of F-7BGI is greatly improved over earlier F-7BG resulted from upgrades listed below,[98][99] and delivery of 16 was signed in 2011 and completed in 2013.[98][100]

    • F-7 BGI has a speed of Mach 2.2
    • 5 Hard-points to carry air-to-air missiles, laser-guided bomb, GPS-guided bombs, drop tanks
    • Full glass cockpit.
    • can carry 3000 pound bomb, including Chinese laser-guided bombs.
    • F-7 BGI has KLJ-6F radar.
    • afterburner: F-7 BGI (82 kN) thrust
    • Missiles procurement are currently unknown for F-7 BGI but they can fire the PL-5, PL-7
    • F-7 BGI got J-7G2 Airframe with double [delta wing]. This improves the lift at high angles of attack and delays or prevents stalling.
    • G-limit: +8 g / -3 g
    • Service ceiling: 17,500 m (57,420 ft) for F-7 BGI
    • 3 Multi functional HUD displays and HOTAS.
    • Reportedly more maneuverable than most of the Mig21s and many of the other contemporary fighters.
  • J-7G2: J-7G upgrade with KLJ-6F radar to increase range over 86 km, MFDs and other avionics first used on F-7BGI. Also able to incorporate conformal tanks.[49]

F-7 is a piece of sh1t plane that needed to be retired atleast 15 years ago.
F-7 is basically based on vintage variant of Mig-21 F13 which even IAF retired even before it was even inducted.
