F-INSAS assault rifle some options???

I believe it is a JV with Israel but details are very, very sketchy and anything else is pure speculation. It truly astonished me the way the F-INSAS is happening- a MAJOR project ($2BN just for starters) that is supposed to be introduced this year, albeit in an introductory manner, and a part from a few candid press releases from DRDO, vague comments from IA brass and sketchy YT vids we haven't heard any real details or images of what exactly F-INSAS incorporates or what the finished product will look like. The US Future warrior system has been open for years and their are numerous pics and info freely available anywhere on the web.

7/11 and still NOTHING!!!!!!

maybe the DRDO and IA want to keep it a secret but i wish they would give more info on the weapons systems, do you have the slightest idea what sidearm IA soldiers will carry with F-INSAS?

Common we are talking about indian defence sector which could not keep the top secret site of our Nuke sub base as a secret and we are talking about assault rifle. We haven't heard about it much mainly because DRDO has failed and IA is looking for the equipment in global market as usual. FINSAS could have been given to private sector just like FICV.

There is no plan to invest in any side arm. The side arm will remain the same although DRDO is working on 2 assault rifle and a carbine (MSMC) for FINSAS apparently with Israel but i think they lagging behind. It is possible that DRDO might not have even start the work on these assault rifles.
Or if MOD gets too generous they will purchase some side arm from the market and hand it over to IA but there is no project for side arm.

so for the F-INSAS the DRDO will make 3 firearms total a carbine and 2 assault rifles with Israel? sounds good there is a lot of confusion become some info says DRDO is working on it alone, or with Israel, or a new F-INSAS will just be bought off the int'l market

we should give IA soldiers a mini uzi as a side arm would be better than the browning hi-power we currently use

the INSAS is fine for right now its like the M16A2 for our forces its not bad but lets look at reality we can use a new rifle that weights 1-2 kg less and can support even more accessories idk if the new rifle we picking will have pictanny rails for holographic sight etc but whatever it is i hope it will be good enough for the average Indian soldier to be 200% more lethal than he already is

look you didnot understand what I really wanted to say , I know we need next gen rifle for our army but what i am saying is to do some modifications on insas rather than going for a new design what we can see in the pic you have posted is that they are going for an overall new design . look at the history most of the nations have sticked to their designs rather than going for new ones(ak series ,m16 series):undecided:

.
well some of the modifications I would like to see in insas are
1.using ergonomics instead of wood on outer boody -will decrease its overall weight and also improve its appearence.
2.adding accessories like picatinny rails 20 mm high velocity grenade launcher and optical sights.
3.if possible one should go with a 29inch rifle with 18inch barrel which could be possible by a bullpup design (with out changing the position of the magazine)
4. should change its standard calliber from 5.54mm to 6.8mm .
5. should make a new flash suppressor and go for an inbuilt recoil suppressor.

so is this jv you are talking about is based on israeli design or an indian one . well my estimate would be that since drdo is working on 3 weapons 1carbine and other two assault rifle so I think that drdo will make two rifles one will be indian design based on insas and other one will be an israeli one based on TAR 21. what do you say?:pop:

sir we don't issue sidearm to all the javans (maybe just SF and officers)
and you expect us to give them UZI:woot:

dude look at the Magpul Masada video post number 1 see how they took the design of the M16 took some parts away and added different parts and eventually made it the Masada i believe thats what we did for the Multi caliber weapon that DRDO will make watch the video and see

so we don't give our soldiers pistols as a secondary? i doubt that IDF soldiers use mini uzis or m9's

yeah just saw that video that was really what I was talking about you we started understanding each other .:azn:. And now for you just see the pic you posted in post number 21 that design is completely different from our INSAS actually that pic looks more like TAR 21 rather than INSAS :what:. what do you say?

the ARDE could have gone right down to the basics of the INSAS and replacing the gas operating system, sights, adding pictanny rails, etc i think that multi caliber weapon has some similarities with the INSAS, because every firearm produced by OFB designed by ARDE has been derived from the 1b1 INSAS rifle

.
Thrust me we do have a standard sidearm (hi power browning) but that doesn't mean we issue it to all the jawans .

as part of the F-INSAS program besides the firearms mentioned above we should think about locally producing the M9 and giving it to our Jawans, standard weapons for a soldier are his service rifle, secondary, and Knife
