Turks think too highly of themselves that West needs them to survive.

West only needs Turkey as a base to attack Muslim countries in Western Asia and North Africa.

Turkey, once a leader of the Muslim Empire but today used to destroy Muslim lands.

Interesting thoughts I think the same way as well they are too high headed like the Saudis and Iranians but are in NATO as well but for Pakistan this should not matter they are good ally for us and for regional cooperation

Can you mention which Muslim country Turkey has destroyed????

After the collapse of the ottoman Empire the Muslim heartlands haven't seen a single day of peace or security of the Jan, Mal and Namus of their folks...

If you don't understand what Namus means, please ignore my reply...

Erdogan is not talking about F-35 failing because of turkey suspending production of parts.

You have to ask Erdogan him self but one thing is sure he is not referring to suspension of parts production by Turkey.
Turkey is a brave country. They have brave & successful history. I think they will find some other way if U.S.A rejects F35.
Just turkey need clever policy. Their Muslim brotherhood slogans can isolate them, From china until U.S.A.
Turkey Just need to be smart & clever.

Once you rule over the Muslim heartlands for six centuries and provide foolproof security to the folks therein, you may show little pride and honor!!! Fronts were thousands of miles away from them!!! No non-Muslim outsider could dare to even touch the hair the common folks....

Please compare with the current lot of traitors, looters, terrorist etc. proxies and the condition of the folks under them!!!! Be my guest and start with the Haremain, Hijaz, Sham etc....

I agree I would not mind Turkey being anti Yankee but pissing off everyone from China ,Russia,Gulf Arabs,Iranians and Balkan states will isolate you quicker than quick sand I think Turkey should be clever on this as well

Turkey don't need to find another way USA will have to give them F-35 or the project will fail. Turkey knows too much about F-35.

Not Bad but as usual Yankee is playing its double dealing games as usual you put down payment for planes a decade and half ago send your pilots to train but cause you want buy a missile system from a rival superpower ohh no Planes for you they dont play this crap with the Greeks at all
plus S300 in Greek service are fine but s400 in Turkish service are a threat. common denominator is Israel. Greece has good relations with Israel and Turley Doesn't. Trumps daughter spends her nights in Jewish home. Trump Like Clinton cannot move. He has to do Israel's bidding

'F-35 jet programme doomed to failure if Turkey excluded' – Erdogan

Tensions between US and Turkey have worsened in recent months with Turkey set to begin receiving the S-400 Russian surface-to-air missile system, which the US says will jeopardise Ankara's role in the F-35 fighter jet programme.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan speaks during the 14th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF'19) at Tuyap Fair and Exhibition Center, in Istanbul, Turkey on April 30, 2019.

The US' F-35 fighter jet programme is "doomed to complete failure" if Turkey's contributions are excluded, Turkey's president warned on Tuesday.

"Turkey did not and will not accept any impositions in the defence realm, just as in the areas of politics, diplomacy and the economy," Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the 14th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF'19) in Istanbul.

He decried attempted "impositions" concerning the F-35s, referring to the US threats to cancel the sale over Turkey buying Russian S-400 missile defence.

"We think that those who try to exclude us on an issue where we are a project and production partner can’t see beyond the end of this.

"I am saying explicitly that the F-35 project is doomed to complete failure if Turkey is excluded," Erdogan said.

US-Turkey tension

Tensions between the US and Turkey have worsened in recent months with Turkey set to begin receiving the advanced S-400 Russian surface-to-air missile system, which Washington says will jeopardise Turkey's role in the F-35 fighter jet programme and could trigger congressional sanctions.

Erdogan also said Turkey has reduced its foreign defence industry dependence from 80 percent to 30 percent and it now exports defence industry products.

He added that the country is also making advances in unmanned aircraft worldwide.

Nothing will happen to the program. But yeah, Turkey can sell the acquired knowledge to Russia for money she invested in the program. May also earn some profit.

Its more than that Turkey has great ties with Israel like Greece in the past Greece had a more pro Arab foreign policy than Turkey the issue is Turkey has 2nd largest army in NATO after the USA and US has bases in Turkey for Russian equipment in that country fear of tech transfers and espionage is the main reason why

If this is a case, then you have valid point. Maybe they knows pros & cons of F35. Then this is treasure .
How can they not know Turkey is a NATO member. When ever Israeli pilots fly F-35 to train they do it will Radar reflector on the jet so that Russia don't get info on it due to Russian radar in Syria. If you consider Turkey they know too much and that is a problem if Turkey has to look for fifth gen else where.

The Americans aren't that dumb. I highly doubt that Turkey knows more than what Americans had intended when Turkey joined in on the program.

Lol. Ok, im out.

Yes they wont be affected. But F-35 is a costly and hugely over rated platform with some very good tech inside but overall its too complicated for its own good and designed to do too many things at the same time with very little to show for.

I mean it performed very very well in NATO exercises, and it also proved its stealth capabilities in iraq/syria i believe.

. .
why would the Russians sell one of their top notch defence systems to a NATO country?

selling the s300 to Greece ended up giving NATO a training platform. why would they repeat this with the s400?

something is really fishy with deal in my opinion. The only way this makes sense for the Russians is if they have calculated that this deal might ruin Turkish/nato relations enough to make it worth their while?

Or they are giving out export versions of the system. That's vastly inferior to the Russian version to the point of being almost a different system. Whereby NATO gets a false sense of security by training on them, and in for a shock if they ever face the Russian version?

Russia is a master of geopolitics. this deal has baffled me personally

The Germans are backing off from the F-35 project too:

Germany’s F-35 Fighter Rebuff Raises Questions for Nato Partners (excerpt)
(Source: Financial Times; published April 29, 2019)
By Sylvia Pfeifer

LONDON --- Germany’s decision not to buy the F-35 stealth fighter jet is a “retrograde step” that could hamper the country’s ability to operate at the same level as its Nato partners, according to the European head of Lockheed Martin, which manufactures the aircraft.

Jonathan Hoyle, vice-president for Europe at the US defence group, said the German decision in January to exclude the F-35 from further consideration to replace its ageing Tornado fleet had caught a lot of governments “on the hop”. The German defence ministry said at the time it had decided to acquire either more Eurofighters from Airbus, the European group, or Boeing-made F-18s.

With the German rhetoric in the past three years having been about stepping up its defence capabilities, the decision not to consider the F-35 had prompted questions among other European governments over “Germany’s position going forward, and therefore what does it mean for Nato”, Mr Hoyle told the Financial Times in an interview.

He added that during a recent visit to Nato several ambassadors had expressed “disappointment” at the German decision. They had noted that while many of their countries were investing in fifth-generation fighter jet technology by opting for the F-35, “Germany, which has the biggest defence budget, has just taken this retrograde step and isn’t going to be there”.
