F-22P a bad decision by PN?

Air defence radars must be capable of detecting low flying missile to. A surface ship is a much bigger target than a anti-ship missile flying at or below 20m.
they just do their best, but there is no guarantee of dectecting a threat in time, so they need help in decting missiles and ships.
here are some data
AN/SPS-48: ACs(400KMs), ships (-), missiles (30KMs)
AN/Spy-1: ACs(320KMs), ships (85KMs), missiles (40KMs)

The Navy operates the AN/SPS-49(V) as a shipborne radar on board approximately 115 ships and shore installations. Operation in the 902-928 MHz band is critical because it offers unique propagation characteristics that permit detection of small, fast moving targets over water, referred to as sea skimmers. A sea skimming missile or aircraft poses a particular problem, since at normal target tracking frequencies in smooth sea conditions there is a tendency for the radar return to be reflected back off the sea surface, causing confusion to the radar resulting in gross errors in assessment of speed and range. This problem has been largely overcome by using frequencies in the 902-928 MHz band. The Navy maintains that continued access to the 902-928 MHz band is essential to meet national defense requirements.

traditionally, air-search radars work at the frequency(L-Band) but not all of them, US SPY-1 and UK type996 work at 2.4GHz(S-Band).

I think this ship is mostly for sub reconnaissance mission rather a deep sea battle workhorse. I think Chinese don't believe in surface battles in sea wars. I think Chinese bought the principle of "there are two kinds of ships: subs and targets" well. If Islamabad bought Chinese philosophy in sea wars, I wouldn't be surprised if they go for subs. Does Pakistan have subs, and how many?

And where to these missile come from? DO they appear out of thin air? No, they are launched by some sub, ship or aircraft. You detect the platform way before the missile is even launched, and preferably kill it before it does launch.

The Perry's dinky little I-band AN/SPS-55 surface search and navigation radar already has a detection range of greater than 50 nautical miles (92.6 km). The effective range of the radar is from 50 feet (15 m) to beyond 50 miles (80 km). On Perry, AN/SPS-55 sits just above the AN/SPS-49

hay guys yesterday morning I saw a New chopper with Pakistani Flag flying over the sea. I think it was WZ-9 but looked handsome i didn't had my cell with me otherwise i would have shoot its picture for you.

Why PN is not getting C-803 missiles with new frigate?

Does anyone know the major difference between C-803 and Harpoon missiles.

Harpoon Missle
Weight: 1,144–1,385 lb (519–628 kg) depending on launch platform
Length: 15.4 ft (4.7 m)
Diameter: 1.1 ft (0.34 m)
--------------------------------
C-802
Weight 715 kg
Length: 6.392 m (20.97 Feet)
Diameter: 36 cm (1.18 Feet)

Because PN already operates C-802. The Pakistan Navy operates four Jalalat class 200 ton missile boats each armed with four Chinese C-802 anti-ship missiles. Chossing C-803 would introduce yet another type of SSM (besides Harpoon, Exocet and C-802) and probably also because C-803 is more expensive and requires may require additional investments in detection platforms due to its longer range (while maybe not giving sufficient added capability to warrent the greater cost).

that have been the case with the PN. we have always been more intrested in submarines rather then surface ship, it do not means that we have a very big subs fleet nor does this means that the surface ship separtment is totally neglectes but still more investment in Subs have always been the policy.
PN currently operates:
2 Agosta 70
3 Agosta 90
and deal is being finalized for 3 U214 boats,,

hope this helped,,

regards!

According to SIPRI database,we have acquired 40 C-803 missiles for the F-22 P.

Happy Defence Day to all of you,

Possible. But ... Link please!

NB: I provided possible explanations for a choice for C802, irrespective of whether or not it was actually chosen.

SIPRI Publications

Select China as supplier and choose Pakistan as recipient. Choose 2005-2008 just to be safe and download.

However, i do have doubts on some things like red arrow.According to SIPRI we have imported them (some 15000) whereas we make them under TOT as Baktar Shiken.

F22p Might not be the a good frigate. But what if we have a deal with western countries and right before delivery we get weapons sanctions on us. Then we'll again be in a situation like the F16s. So its better to trade with china than western countries. And by starting building F22P at home we might build a better frigate in future.

Thanks, interesting database.

F22P is not a bad frigate, certainly not when compared with current PN main surface combattants i.e. the old ex-UK Type 21s. Are there better ships on the market? Certainly. Are they more expensive? Some certainly are. Are all those other ships available to Pakistan? No, not likely.

yes with TOT experience gained from F22p and later non the miligem class from turkey we will learn a lot of things that might prove a big step toward an indegenious class. though this do not sem to be the intentions as Gov seem to be happy with PN procurement from friendly nation manwhile more funds are being given to PAF and PA or indegenious projects. results are clear in form of Al-Hhalids, APCs, JF17 and UAVs!!

regards!
