Mirage-2000, both of them are interesting aircrafts. F-16 MLU with the standard of Block 50 can be a beast against Mirage-2000, and it will be matter of seconds before Mirage will get shot down.

During the Kargil War?? Indian Mirage-2000-5 locked on F-16 Block 15. So you must get an idea between the difference of just Mirage-2000 and F-16 MLU. The mid life upgrade is not a minor upgrade, it is a major upgrade which totally changes the aircraft from design to avionics, everything.

Even though both aircrafts are multirole, but F-16 has better payload, better in dog fight, even more better if with APG-60.

Can anyone tell me what kind of radar does F-16 get in the process of MLU? Does the radar remains same or does it get upgraded as well?

In the Kargil War the PAF never sent any of its aircrafts, whereby the IAF sent many aircraft to strike multiple targets in Kargil. The PA shot down 2 IAF Migs. The F-16 blk 15 is equal to the Mirage 2000 and the MLU is better

New and used F-16s may be bought’

KARACHI, Jan 20: The Pakistan Air Force is considering buying a mix of new and used F-16 fighter jets, says Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat.

The PAF chief was addressing members of the English-speaking Union of Pakistan (EUP) at a local hotel.

Highlighting the PAF’s high deterrence value, he said Pakistan was fully capable of defending itself and he hoped there would be no war.

He said that maintaining a strong and credible defence was expensive, and pointed out that the PAF needed hardware worth $3-4 billion to maintain a minimum deterrence capability.

He said that various versions of F-16s were available to PAF from the United States. “We are also considering to buy used F-16s from elsewhere. However, we will prefer a mix of new and old F-16s fighter planes for the PAF,” he added.

He said the PAF was focusing on strengthening its reconnaissance and surveillance capability, strike power, detection of enemy aircraft, platform to combat and weapons for defence.

The PAF chief reminded that India had withdrawn its forces from the border with Pakistan after nine months as western countries issued travel advisories asking their citizens not to travel to India in 2002.—PPI

Some 1 is saying something, some 1 some thing else, each person has his different views. what i think the truth is pakistan is not gonna get those F16's for the next 2 years or so and may be pakistan wont ever go for those F16's because they would be looking for more and rather improved JF-17 thunders. the world is getting 5th generation era of aircrafts. I guess there is no point of going after old technology. Perhaps Pakistan should look forward to develope new state of art technology indegeously or with the collabration of China.

By doing that, Pakistan wont have to look after other countries to provide all that stuff, plus it would be cheap as well. J10 and JXX could become bright future for Pakistan. Because we have learnt in the past that Americans only became good when they need us. Plzzz Think :what: what i was trying to say and feel free to comment......

I think thats exactly what Pakistan is planning to do, but we need a STOP GAP fighter until then (2015 is a long time.) Its likely that Pakistan wants to go for 75 new F-16's Block 50 & 52, along with 20 used MLU F-16's

Well what i think, in this modern age of air force, where things are really changed beyond missiles and a machine gun which is used to be. It is necessary to spend billions of dollars to have a capable air force, and for that Pakistan needs money.

PAF is not getting enough funds currently because that the chances of an attack from some where is highly unlikely, but indeed it has funds to spend. PAF is a third class air force right now with only the rumours that it has BVR capablity, with few 3rd generation fighters upgraded on its best.

PAF a must go with a good competitor with combination of a joint purchase to over come the unit cost and its benefits. With enough money offering to a contendor the contendor will most likely give all of the stuff that is needed for a plane and not sanction it a little bit.

This scenerio happened with UAE. The Block 60 was not coming up with the latest technology and requirements of UAE, but there were competitors trying to grab about 6 billions dollars. In the end Lockheed had to pressure the Senate to approve the advance technology to meet the requirements of UAE. Of course Senate had to approve it if it didn't UAE would have gone freely for Typhoon or more Mirages.

Thats it buddy!!! Money has its own Power :bat: . We need a lot of improvement not only in technology but in economy, in politics, in every person's mind.

Pakistan got independence in 1947, so as China got in 1949. And look now where both countries are right now. China is not relying on any one like other countries do. they dont have to take any kind of permission from other countries to do certain things, they have there free will. There system works in such a way that they dont have to look at any 1 for their requirements. they dont give a S**t to any1 not even Ameriacns or Europeans, hence be called as the future's "Super Power".

I guess thats what pakistanis need to do, it will take time but its certain. To do that we need good & honest politicians, love in each persons heart for his country, some sense about future and care about the rights of other people. If we Pakistanis able to develope those qualities in ourselves, there will be F16's, Typhoons or what ever may be much more better stuff, the future will be ours. No 1 will die due to hunger or suffer because of lack of facilities. Every 1 has to think now, have to get together as 1 nation, this is the time before it get too late. In the past it was afghanistan and Iraq, now its Iran, who knows in future it could be Pakistan. We gotta make sure of our future.

May ALLAH give each of us a good sense to choose the right path to ensure the bright future of pakistan and its people. AMIN

God Bless Pakistan :army:

United States is willing to give us the most advanced version of F-16. Its might be Block 60 as it is the most advanced right now.
