Good riddance. Start exploring the alternatives the world has no shortage of.
its not about storages its about $$$ , who will give you for Free?

I think Pakistan did it deliberately ....Gen Raheel and Sohail Amman are no slouches ...they know the trade ...If we don't get F-16, we don't need to help US in their Black Ops ...PAF must be having some good alternative ....it must not be that easy but surely it would be not as difficult and embarrassing as to get a bunch of F-16s...I think this is a golden chance to move away from the US camp ....Pakistan, China and Turkey can come up with a better solution ...KSA can be in the same camp too.
it about paying $$, who will give you for free? ask Turkey? ask KSA? or ask China?

we never received f-16 free in the past
currently pakistan does want f-16s for counter terriosm and their role in conventional deterance but think it current price is not cost effective given the stricter restriction on them and fact that it will n no longer will be the superior platform in south asia

so why pay 100 million for f-16 when u can get say a typhoon for 130-140 million(inculding training and spares) which is superior with no restrictions.
so it doesnt fit the picture anymore, either we will go with thunders, second hand f-16s may be, or superior plateform

.
We never took anything for free....we pay in one way or another ...!
So why not buying with your own Funds? why depended on US finds for F-16.

you can buy with your own funds.

Well... your current fleet of F-16 and your so called might JFT , isn't up to that job ?

Currently you cannot buy as you don't have funds , Buy Typhoon if u have $$'s?

You people are Confused
A) IF JF-17 is superior ( acc to some) , then why going for F-16?
B) If F-16 dose not matter , then making hue and cry over 8 planes?
C) If alternate available , why not going for it ?
D) IF F-16 is superior , then why don't buy with your own funds ? ( as you are rich)

Pakistan seems to have failed to seal the US $700 million deal for the purchase of eight F-16 fighter jets from the US following a row between the two countries over their financing, a media report said on Saturday. The Pakistani government was required to provide the Letter of Acceptance for purchase of the jets by May 24, but Dawn News reported that the document was not issued leading to expiry of the offer. “Pakistan decided not to fully fund the case with national funds, so the terms of sale have now expired,” a diplomatic source was quoted as saying by the daily. However, Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Jalil Abbas Jilani, told the daily that “a dead-end has not been reached as yet”. Initially, the US $700 million deal for eight F-16C/D Block-52 multi-role fighters, was to be partially financed through the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme but the Congress disallowed subsidising the sale. The subsidising was disallowed over concern that Pakistan had not done enough to end the dreaded Haqqani network’s terror sanctuaries on its soil as well as fears over Islamabad’s nuclear programme. Pakistan, which expected to get the fighters at the subsidised rate of USD 270 million, was subsequently asked by the US administration to make the full payment for the eight aircraft from its national resources. This was not acceptable to Pakistani authorities, who remained adamant that the offer must come without any preconditions. The aircraft were required by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, the report said. The jets would have come with “all-weather, non-daylight environments and self-defence/area suppression capability”. It was unclear why Pakistan missed the opportunity despite pressing requirement for the jets, although it had originally desired to acquire 18 F-16s, the daily said. Some quarters believe that providing the Letter of Acceptance would have kept the window open for re-negotiating the financing arrangement at a later stage, it said. Pakistan Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said last month that Pakistan could look to buy the aircraft from some other country if the deal did not go ahead. He also said earlier this month that Pakistan’s ties with the US had witnessed a “downward slide” amid the row over the Congress’ decision to block the sale of the jets. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said last week that Pakistan will explore other options to meet its defence needs if the deal for F-16s did not materialise with the US. Analysts believe Islamabad could consider Russian or Chinese fighters to meet its defence requirements.

There is no dispute , its a financial transaction and presently it was not part of our plans to purchase the items at high premiums

Thank you to President Obama for his support for sale
Thank you to Congress / Senate for passing bill to allow sale by funds

In future if we have some extra funds we will start process again at present we are moving ahead for other important matters

like what :what:

curious why we are subsidizing nearly 2/3third the cost $430 million dollars.

well if you were paying for 1/3 the cost than what your rich brothers are paying I say you have been making out like a bandit.

if you can't pay full price then maybe you shouldn't be flying F-16 blk 52s in the first place.

just buy more JF-17 or J-10 or Mig-35s
Costs are not an issue. It might have become an issue involving ego.
What matters is that americans are unreliable in supplying spares and keep this fleet flying. So, its definitely not worth a lot of money in aforementioned case

Are you a street vendor or what ....? You can't see this deal with the same way you see potatoes on a shelf ...no ?

.
pakistan must inform USA that we are not for sold every time with few F-16s . and stick on some better fighter if we have to pay .

nah I think it is costs 100%

if Pakistan was worried about spares and what not you would have gone with another bird long ago.

you should just go for Su-30MK2 or Su-35 which is cheaper to buy, but their spares costs a lot more than ours. just ask India how bad Russia has been fleecing them over their Su-30MKI

JFT is still in its early life stage like F-16 was in late 70s, it currently lack loiter time, weapons load & avionics compared to F-16 block-50 & specially block-52+. The avionics will definitely surpass Block-52+ level in coming future but to improve loiter time and weapons load it need to be increased like hornet become super hornet although loiter time can be increased with CFTs but it will reduce weapons load carrying capability.
