F-15 SA

why saudis did not go for f15 SE

Boeing said that F-15SE was intended for the foreign market. Particularly, for Israel and South Korea. Unfortunately no one of these customers showed any interest for an order because they're waiting for the F-35. Due to that, Boeing has lost the battle against Lockheed martin for F-22 & F-35 and F-15SE project didn't go well as planned. Therefore, the one who will order F-15SE has to wait and pay too much costs for tests, manufacturing and integration of the other weapon systems.

F-15SA was the best choice for KSA and still it has the most advanced F-15 in the world. The difference between F-15SA and F-15SE isn't that much, but only the F-15SE got an optimized design to reduce radar cross section, while both of them has the same features like AESA radar, digital electronic warfare system (DEWS) and the enhanced weapons loadout.

Sorry for offtopic, but Israel might buy new F15I in the near future according to official sources.

True, even with F-35, you still need the eagle with good numbers. You can rely on them whatever the mission assigned to them... air-air, air-ground...etc

See this bird dropped 1,100 bombs during the mission in Yemen, and still kicking @$$es of Iran puppets :

KSA's choice was smart, the SE didn't offer that much RCS reduction, even with weapons in the internal bay only, it was not a 5th generation fighter, and could get detected from relatively long distances..

they don't have the right equipment nor tactics.

I'd take 50 MQ-9 reapers over 5 F-15SA
I'd take 4 AC-130 over 12 F-15SA
I'd take 32 A-10C over 8 F-15SA
I'd take 126 Textron Airland Scorpions over 24 F-15SA

I'd out fit all my M1 Abrams with the Israeli Trophy APS and all other armored vehicles with Iron Fist. I'd always have some of the listed aircraft I mentioned above in the air ready to strike where needed when the Houthis ambush.

Muslims have been killing Muslims ever since Muhammad died

The US won't sell you the MQ-9 nor the A-10 thunderbolt,so what is left? transport and training aircrafts!
There is a Turkish equivalent of the Usraeli Trophy APS system,
Nothing can replace the F-15

It's maybe equivalent to Iron Fist, which acts the same way.
But Iron Fist is a done system, while turkish is a prototype

And Altay is still in developing as much as I know.
Anyway, Iron Fist was released in 2009 if Im not mistaking
Development is over, prototypes already given to turkish land force for acceptence. if accepted in the coming month, mass production begin in a year+ after

F-15 is overkill for killing terrorists that have no air force.

you are using a sledgehammer to kill ants.

It is true, but they were mostly used in the beginning of the Yemeni campaign.. after that the bombings were made by F-16s of some coalition members.. Those are not just some bunch of terrorists they had most weapons of the regular Yemeni army including BM and heavy anti-aircraft weapons..

Riyadh: Prince Mohammed bin Salman, deputy crown prince and minister of defense, expressed on Sunday his thanks and gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz for lending his patronage to King Faisal Air Academy’s (KFAA) for its celebration of its 50th anniversary next Wednesday.

He also thanked the King for the induction of an F-15-SA fighter jet that is joining the fleet of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). The academy will also witness the graduation ceremony of the 91st batch of KFAA students.

The deputy crown prince said the Kingdom will continue boosting its military and defense capabilities through upgrading the Armed Forces, notably the RSAF, by making it possible for it to be in possession of the most modern planes in the world. He also said qualifying and training pilots and co-pilots, as well as enhancing the Armed Forces’ capabilities to make them combat ready, will enable the Armed Force to perform more efficiently.

The deputy crown prince said the induction of the new fighter jet coincides with the 50th anniversary of KFAA, which prepared many pilots who have proved their competence at world level.

The event will witness the official joining of the recently received F-15-SA fighter jets to the RSAF fleet following a deal signed with the US in 2012, which stipulated the purchase of 84 F-15-SA fighter jets.

The jets contain advanced equipment in electronic warfare based on digital technology. They can be loaded with conventional or new smart weapons.

KFAA was established in 1967 when Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the then-minister of Defense and Aviation, announced during the graduation ceremony of the 26th batch of King Abdulaziz Military College cadets, the establishment of an air academy that would carry the name King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA).

RIYADH: With the introduction of the latest and the most advanced fighter jets, the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) is set to acquire a new cutting edge in its defense of the homeland and the region.

King Salman will patronize the induction of the F-15SA into the RSAF during the 50th anniversary on Wednesday of the King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA). The event will also see the graduation of the academy’s 91st group of students.
Saudi Arabia’s defense minister, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has frequently spoken about boosting military and defense capabilities. The introduction of the F-15SA fighter aircraft into the air force is part of that goal.
In addition to boosting military and defense capabilities by upgrading the armed forces — notably those of the RSAF — Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that qualifying and training pilots and co-pilots, as well as improving the armed forces’ capabilities, would enable them to perform more efficiently.

The newly obtained F-15SA fighter aircraft are among the most advanced in the world.

The air force has received special attention from the country’s leadership since the early 1970s. The RSAF was, and is, involved in critical missions which have made it one of the most advanced air forces in the region.

The Kingdom’s strategic partners rely on Saudi participation in the war on terror and Saudi Arabia is seen as an influential, if not the most influential, partner in the region and the Muslim world. Saudi Arabia is a defender of neighboring Arab countries against potential aggression from destabilizing powers such as Iran.

In 2015, Saudi Arabia formed the Islamic Military Alliance to Fight Terrorism (IMAFT) which is made up of 40 Muslim countries. A fortnight ago, Riyadh hosted the chiefs of staff of 14 countries from the global coalition against Daesh in an attempt to improve and step up coordination.

Despite the turmoil in the Arab world since 2011, including in neighboring Iraq and Yemen, Saudi Arabia has been determined to constantly upgrade its armed forces, particularly the RSAF. Daesh and other terrorist and militant groups, some supported by Iran, are trying to take advantage of the turmoil to act against certain countries, including Saudi Arabia and its allies.

The Kingdom “has a particular importance in the region and the wider world,” said Sir John Jenkins, director of the Middle East Office of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), and former UK ambassador to Saudi Arabia. “This is partly because of its economic weight and its importance within Islam.”

There is also a realization that Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of the fight against violent extremism, he added.

I hope KSA has amongst the most well trained pilots in the world, if any lessons have been learn't from Arab-Israeli wars.
