Explosive report on 1962 India-China war leaked

What was the outcome? Has China returned the land it got from India? Or it was its own area?

Indian pacifism was thrown out of the window and a political leadership that saw Armed Forces as a burden to the nation was forced to look after them. Defense budget was increased, better training and weapons was imparted and when our Eastern Neighbour attacked in 1965, the army was prepared and after 9 years the same Army split the Eastern Neighbour into two. Also did I mentioned that Indian Nuke program owes its existence to Chinese Threat.

Was there any big difference between IA of 1962 and IA of 1965? And if yes, why they failed to 'punish' Pakis?

. . . .
52 years since the battle nothing seems to have changed in the attitude of the Indian political and military leadership towards defence preparedness.

'Pakis' as you like to call yourself were punished pretty damn good when you were trying to take Kashmir but instead had to end up facing an invasion in your Punjab.

China took Aksai Chin from India which they haven't returned and India still claims it.

India still retains Arunachal Pradesh which China continues to claim.

We as a nation wallow too much in the past & don't worry sufficiently about the present. 1962 is about as relevant as Chingis Khan's conquering of China is now . Nehru did make a blunder here but Nehru was a product of his times and the freedom struggle did have a strong pacifistic streak. Judging him today would not give the clearest of picture. This was a massive blunder but not really relevant today unless one wants to beat a very, very dead horse. 1962 was a blot on Nehru & many of the then senior military leadership but the only thing that should now be bemoaned is the lack of hardhitting reports like that of Lt.Gen. Henderson Brooks-Brigadier P S Bhagat. Now all we get are reports that leave you no better informed than before and where no one is ever responsible.

Well, basic question was the difference created in 3 years. 2ndly i dont think during the war Pak tried to capture Kashmir, it had difficulty even defending itself. Yes it did in OP Gibraltar but it was before the "War" started. 2ndly comparing volumes of both country forces, im very much surprised that India ddnt even got one major city....Talking about sea, i ddnt find any source of IN deployment in seas. For airforce, u probably know better thn me.

Yes there was a big difference in 1971 though

IA lost both. The difference is that the defeat in 1962 was conclusive and cannot be denied. In 1965 the defeat was not conclusive as a cease-fire took place after seventeen days. Here Indian media claims victory which not many accept.
