Expanding Pakistan's ties with nations

Which country should Pakistan expand ties with most? (Pakistanis only)

They are after Pakistan's Nuclear Program and have tried to attack on our Installations in the past. It's very clear what Israel thinks about Pakistan.

Valid point, but ties should still be looked into if Pakistan and Israel can find some way to cooperate. Already Pakistan and Israel have diplomatic relations through certain channels. I think the Israelis may be eager to pursue relations with Pakistan, they don't have many partners to begin with forming ties with Pakistan would benefit them, it would be mutually beneficial.

Defense is one major field both countries can cooperate on.

Here's the predicament for Pakistan in the countries mentioned:

Israel

Your local mullas will unleash hell if you open ties with them. GCC states will ditch you completely. There will be so much chaos within your country, it will defeat the whole point of your existence.

Greece and Armenia

The country you call "One nation, two states". Although Turkey is a pragmatic country, it will still be annoyed no doubt. Turkey is in a position to have ties with anyone. Can you afford to annoy Turks? That's the question.

Bulgaria

This is perhaps the only country with whom you can have conflict and trouble-free ties.

Local Mullahs can complain if so they try something they can be arrested. So intimidation shouldn't prevent Pakistan from conducting ties with Israel.

As for Greece and Armenia, Pakistan needs to conduct and independent foreign policy with its national interest in mind. There's no good reason why Pakistan shouldn't recognize Armenia, better relations with Armenja may well improve relations with Russia. As for Greece they are on life support from EU it will if not already a directly EU controlled state, Pakistan can still establish stronger ties with Greece in trade, science, agriculture, etc.

You might think it's minor, but it's not. Forget "Mullahs", every one will be on the streets; more than 90% of Pakistan's popualtion (be they religious or not) would absolutely not have a relation with Israel at all. And you think the army wil let you?
You're getting too ahead of yourself bro

EDIT: Why would the Mullah be arrested for voicing their opinion? Is that how you want Pakistan to be? Another Musharraf era regime in which you can't question or object to your gov.? Get real

I think we should create new ties with as many countries as possible (i.e. Brazil, south Africa etc) and at the same time we need to maintain, if not expand, our existing ties with our traditional allies (i.e. china, Saudi Arabia etc).

We need to learn from our previous mistakes and ensure going forward we the ties are based on mutual trust and respect and are not one sided...i.e. We should not be bending over backwards to please certain countries (ie.g. America) when they do not respect our soverignty. we HAVE to put Pakistans interest first at all cost. We need to ensure we make it clear that the ties will only be maintained as long as there is mutual trust and respect.

I know the above is usually obvious for most countries at the least...but not for our dear leaders it seems!! We really need to strengthen our foreign policy and work much smarter than we currently do!

Neither is Israel's technology better than China/Russia/US nor will it share any technology to the people (Muslims) who think that they are the rightful inheritors of Al-Aqsa Masjid and Jerusalem. What is it that Israel can offer to Pakistan - JF17 Thunders?

A peaceful recognition should only be made possible once the Palestinian issue has been resolved to the benefit of both parties.

For now we should strengthen relations with Armenia, Russia, and Iran, i don't know about israel though, you can't really trust them.

US is bigger friend of India ...Russia is India's closest friend ....Iran is also very good friend of India lately...everybody knows the story of India and Israel's friendship...now France and UK also on board

good for you that you have China...but It is time to look beyond China....Having friends is always good

Pakistan's relationship cannot be compared with the trade they have with india, lets not throw a hissy fit, just because they are trading with india.

Our relationship is based on two country's one nation.

Our friendship is not hostage to any other relationship.

Did you and I live in the same Musharaf era? Or are you assuming and pre-supposing things just because it was a dictatorship for a majority of its time?

Besides, I think anyone with a fully functional brain knows that if the likes of Extremist Mullahs are allowed a voice that grows to be too strong, you lot won't even have the internet at your fingertips.

The only Jihad I'll be fighting is the one against religious extremism and tribal/caste/family based politics - both of which are a much bigger problem to Pakistan than having ties with Israel could ever be.

Why not have relations with Israel? A lot of strategic value to that. As for Mullahs they better not try something or provoke they can voice their opinion but not take any hostile actions that goes for everyone. Pakistan already has strong ties with US and ties with UK having ties with Israel wouldn't be any worse but perhaps better.

You're just making an emotional argument for not having ties with Israel. Also that is rubbish 90% would not come out protesting just the lights of you.

Spare me the bs videos, we are discussing strategic partnerships not brotherhood but Pakistan's interest something you fail to understand.

Even other Muslim countries have ties with Israel, we don't have to worry about what other nations think, something you do well. Pakistan has to have an independent foreign policy.

And mate this is no "hissy-fit" I guess Pres. Musharraf was also throwing one when he suggested Pakistan establish ties with Israel.

None of them.

Why not? Are they not Islamic enough for you?

This is quite an interesting Thread. I would agree with many Pakis that relations should be with as many countries as possible.

Israel: Pakistan has sent many people there already. Through certain "channels" there is cooperation in the fields of Defense, Counter-Terrorism, and Economics. Ever notice some high quality "Made in Jordan" products floating around? Where you think they come from? Agricultural, Defence, Economics, Political.

Armenia: The Turks dont have any problem with them other than when the Armenians say "Genocide".

Turkmenistan: Oil and Natural Gas. As most of the oil and gas goes to Kazakhstan to China, opening a pipeline to Pakistan can allow for exports to S. Asia. Even an American company tried to work with the Taliban to allow for Turkmen resources to flow to Pakistan. Economics, Historical

Iran: Oil and Gas along with showing Pakistan how to grow balls. There is much potential for Pakistani investments into the country. Economic, Historical.

Kazakhstan/ Tajikistan/ C. Asia: Resource full. Defense. Economics.

China: Any explanation necessary? Pakistan should send many more students to China on scholarships, like they do to Turkey. Pakistan considers China as a "All-weathered friend" but many Chinese dont even know about Pakistan. Agricultural, Defense, Economics, Political

South Korea: Just look at them. Ever been to Seoul? My father said you will not even find gum on the streets. Their Nuclear Energy program is quite advanced. So is their Tech know-how. Agricultural, Defense, Economic.

Indonesia/ Malaysia/ Singapore: Emerging powers in S. Asia, they have much to provide to Pakistan in terms of efficiency, and development. And all have great public relations with the world. Agricultural, Defense, Economic, Political.

Brazil: Its an emerging power. Ever heard of BRIC? Brazilian products are very good quality. And a great destination for exports and importing. They can also help in training Pakistani Police how to handle gangs. Defense, Economics, Political

Argentina: Although much overlooked, Argentina has in the past few years started to prove its potential in the world. With massive Industrial programs and outreach with the world. Economic

Pakistan already has Embassies open in many of these countries. Now-a-days these "Embassies" do nothing more than waste $$$. Before, under Musharraf, if there was even a backlog of 1 paper someone would be held accountable. I have gone to the Embassy in DC. All they do is sit and watch tv. Instead of organizing business forums or cultural exchanges. The Consulate in Istanbul? Dont get me started, they can not even provide legal advise to Pakistanis.

You know AIPAC? You know what they do? They gather students and congressmen/women and send them to Israel. Why can not Pakistan organize this? Incompetence is full in the Foreign Ministry.

"Come forward as servants of Islam, organise the people economically, socially, educationally and politically and I am sure that you will be a power that will be accepted by everybody." -Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Excellent post, Pakistan needs to reach out to a whole host of nations, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Israel, Armenia, Greece, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, and others. We need to import technology from these countries, especially from Israel and South Korea. Pakistan has to advance in technology and invest in R&D.

none of these countries.
but have to strengthen more the relation with countries like.

Brazil
South Africa
Ukrain

its easy coz they are not under US pressure but can benefit us and already did in some fields.
