Exercise EKUVERIN-12: India-Maldives Military Engagement

The exercise that lasted for around 13 days, started on November 12, 2012. 45 soldiers of the Madras Regiment represented the Indian side, with an equal number of MNDF Marine Corps soldiers. Named 'EKUVERIN-12'+, it focussed primarily on Counter-Terrorism/Insurgency & hostage rescue missions. Facilities of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belgaum were utilised for this engagement. The next round would be held in 2013, with Maldives playing host. Posted below are a collection of pictures from the exercise. Going by the nature of missions undertaken & the fact that the soldiers here are seen armed with AK-series weapons, I'm assuming that the Indian side included members of the 'Ghatak' Platoon.

To be fair-does it really matter if it looks like a toy? It is still going to fire a 5.56 bullet all the same and I'd have this cmao over the awful orange any day.

I agree with you on this one. And there are just more than one signs that Maldives is becoming worse by the day. Under Nasheed there was some semblance of sanity but this new guy is a menace. His brother openly insulted an Indian dignitary, his government cancelled Maldives' airport's contract half way with GMR costing our company millions and his party is showing more signs of anti-India aggression.

I think we should just let them be on their own regardless of what their coral reef country gets into.

This is not the friendly Maldives that was a decade ago.

Sometimes it helps to build ties even when the other side does a few problematic things. An Indian military presence there can do wonders for us, especially the navy. We already have surveillance radars installed in Maldives to keep an eye out for all shipping activities in the IOR. A small naval presence there can be a big multiplier for us in times of war.

Stop blaming others, at least not before you clean up your own dirty acts first!

Go and find out how your navy and those spoilt brats of yours were/are doing over in your neighbours' water and islands before even dreaming about them letting you guys to station your infamous navy there.
