Took a long time but he has now admitted downloading the entire Tesla AutoPilot source code before joining Xpeng Motors

A former Tesla Inc. engineer has admitted to downloading proprietary Autopilot source code to his personal account, and has agreed to pay the company an undisclosed sum to settle its trade secrets lawsuit, the parties said in a joint bid for dismissal filed in a California

Shameless theft. Why didn't they just call their company Xesla. I like the part where Xpeng stated "Tesla has failed to show any credible evidence that XMotors ever possessed, let alone used, any Tesla information from Dr. Cao.”, but refused access to their source code to cover up the theft.

Tesla will lose access to the China market eventually when the CCP acts to protect the local competitors, who will meanwhile steal Teslas technology and use it to compete in the global markets in much the same manner as Huawei did. Tesla has a long battle ahead of it in international courts trying to stop them.

Luckily the codebase was before the switch to pure AI vision so Xpeng will need to use LIDAR to figure out the scene.

LOL.. Since it is stolen by the engineer and why didnt Tesla stop Xpeng from using the tech instead of just settle for a compensation? Tesla could have killed a competitor instead of letting them continue to compete with them.

The engineer admit download and never he claim the current autopilot is copy from Tesla. Why didnt Tesla stop Xpeng from using it?

More like the engineer just want to settle the court issue fast by admit download since Tesla will only ask for compensation. If he really stole Tesla tech and passed to XPeng to help them make their autopilot. I doubt Tesla will just ask for such a light settlement.

Ah right, is that similar to Waymos approach? Also, there is a news item about a Tesla model s crashing on autopilot, any thoughts?

Nothing much would have come from stealing that code. Cisco succesfully got a settlement for "stealing" user manuals on their products by "huawei". The stolen stuff was printed openly on the manual but since it was copyrighted cisco was able to proceed with a case. And everybody laughed at huawei then without understanding they did not "steal" anything significant.

lol as if anyone in the world still buys cangaroo courts rulings of the top intellectual property thief the U.S.A. and their forced "testimonies" and ridiculous fake "crimes" while regularly waving away daylight and even admitted theft by American IP thiefs getting sued by Asian companies. 😂

poor saps fall for the America lie, throw some plastic coated juicebox into a paper bin and get sued for environmental destruction just for some 5 minutes worth of propaganda by the U.S. regime about China.

The best example of theft was when a certain Chinese network company stole some Cisco code. Unfortunately it wasn't fixing the zero day bugs being submitted to Cisco to fix. Leaving their client's servers exposed for YEARS. 😂
