That would have been the first allegation by many Pakistani members had the same happened to a Pakistani guy in India.

No actually it would've been that Indian authorities made a mistake and got the wrong guy... Or didn't investigate properly.

But what difference does it really make, you're expecting Pakistanis to not go overkill suspicious with Indians? Obviously his ex-military status coupled with something he did or said or his name or face triggered something on the various anti-terrorism databases...

They let him go, so obviously they admitted the mistake, he is still in one piece, six months incarceration in cases like these are a blessing.

And still no mention of the fact that how did the dude disappeared, all we have is that he alleges to have been picked up. I have seen many sikhs on their annual trips to Pakistan, and never seen any one bothering them. Now what Jana said earlier comes to mind is that why him, why out of thousands he was only one picked up. Could it be that he went somewhere where he was not suppose to be.

New Delhi, April 3 (BDNEWS)- Police on Saturday registered cases against 11 Pakistani nationals who came to India to witness the Mohali cricket Test but failed to return to their country.

The 11 Pakistanis were charged with overstaying in India after expiry of their visas, police said.

The cases were registered against them at Gharinda Police Station, just 10 kms away from the international border, on Friday evening.

Police said they had passport numbers of the missing Pakistanis. Of the 2754 Pakistani cricket fans who came to India to witness the cricket Test, 11 failed to return home.

The Punjab Immigration Department had passed on necessary details of the 11 missing persons to the Intelligence agencies.

If you think anyone will suspect you due to your time in the armed forces, make sure you inform the Pakistani authorities about yourself truthfully.

Normally ex-military people need clearance from their respective services before going to either India or Pakistan

my uncle who is retired colonel got clearance from ISI/ GHQ before visiting India few years back. I don’t remember but apparently there is a "grace period to spend before one can travel India, he has been retired for more than 20 years so it wasn’t an issue.

coming to the story, if the ex- Indian Army Jawan was indeed an innocent yatri then it is very unfortunate and I can only express grief over this. a visitor specially one on such an important spiritual journey is a guest and must be looked after and helped with least inconvenience.

Your soldier strayed into no-mans land. If our soldiers find one of yours in no-mans land, they may detain him as you are entitled to detain one of ours in no-mans land. It wasnt a situation where your soldier came over to do some prayer at a site which is holy to him in India with full visa accreditation and was then detained by our guys. Compare apples with apples. Its suprising indian government is crying foul over the "alleged" torture of Sikh. Yet, for decades Sikhs were oppressed, kidnapped and brutally tortured at the hands of the indian government and even major military operations where conducted against them as a whole. And all this was done despite Indian Punjab being economic center of india due the hardwork and dedication of Sikh farmers while the rest india was drowning in poverty.

yeah ok why dont you logoff from here and go talk to Sikhs in your country who have come and enjoyed VIP-like hospitality in Pakistani Nation

many of them are usually sad to leave, i interacted with many of them in Lahore last year actually

Chief Minister Punjab organized free transportation, housing, and even elaborate state lunch for a delegation of them

Cant say the same thing about a Pakistani Muslim who would visit bharat....we cant even send comedians there without them facing harassment and intimidation by extremist groups

How do I put it this without offending anyone but at the same time remind everyone to take the information with a grain of salt because it's tough to get it confirmed from official sources.

There are some data points that go into putting someone on a US no fly list or watch list. One of the often spoken but rarely confirmed data point is, if you have a Pakistan, Sudan, Yemen visa stamp- chances are ( higher percentages )you will be flagged. I know there some advanced security layers at Pak's airports when passengers travel to the US, yeah?

I have to say one thing, my brother has been to Pakistan for a wedding. I opted to not go( I'm scared to go w/ my family, rightly or wrongly. MY wife is a Blonde American and we have American passports)- BUT he came back and he said that the people treat Indians extremely well in ( Lahore or Karachi) - I forget where the wedding was . he quoted" yeah, people were like, you from India? yeah yeah, come sit here babu and he used have tea and whatever ) . He said his experience and this was about 10 years ago, was nothing but fantastic, people were warm and welcoming. A good bit of alcohol drinking , premium scotch was the preference there at the wedding . Nothing like some bozos ( no pun intended ) here...
