Even if you build a toilet, they may not come: water expert

A similar approach won't work in India. Indians have no shame. We have to come up with a different strategy to help the Indians.
yeah we have no shame...tatz y so many illegal bangladeshis are flourishin in india....u r so ryt......we need a different strategy

Some time I am surprised that from where these surveys take place.
I am yet to meet a single person who defects in open despite having toilet. Public toilets are not maintained so mostly they are out of service.

South Asians generally consider it unhygienic to have a toilet at home. That's the problem. We need to change their mindsets before spending millions on building toilets that few would make use of.

do not spin it, it is not the mind set, it is dearth of money and sewage lines that India could afford to built easily, so far they rather spend on weapons than on building tiolets and the lines to extricate the sewage.

I give you example of my native village where not a single toilet built by government fund despite showing more than 60 on paper.

Your comment is not clear.. Are you saying despite the reports there are no toilets built by the govt hence people choose to go out in the open ?.. But see thats the problem sanitation should not come by cohesion it should be in the mind set.. The masses should be able to prioritize a toilet not a cable T.V network.. And ideally it should'nt be the govt that need to provide them that.. I think to start off there need to be be rigid rules from building permits to have compulsory toilets in homes to fines that deter people from defecating and littering public spaces.. People will eventually get in to the habit after

absolutely, we have no shame, that's why we defecate in the open.

I'm afraid that's true based on so many international surveys..

even when pole vaulting banglas can see our bottoms.

Here again, I choose to believe in your statement and self-inflict some shame on myself, even though your claim does not come from any reliable source.

What is unhygienic about flushing away your turd when you are finished? To me having it lay around until the flies and bugs take it away seems unhygienic.
