Turkey, with its plan to purchase 100 fighter jets -- for which it was going to shake hands with Lockheed Martin for $16 billion, but later suspended due to the American aerospace company's refusal to share technology with it -- has also received an offer from Europe, one that includes the sharing of the know-how Turkey wants.

Speaking to Today's Zaman on the condition of anonymity, a leading executive from European Eurofighter -- an aerospace consortium of Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom -- said they agree to fulfill Turkey's demands to that end. “We are ready to share all software codes and critical technologies with Turkey,” the official said. Previously the Lockheed Martin director responsible for the F-35s Turkey initially agreed to buy said that what Turkey wanted was not acceptable because of “financial and cost constraints.” The American company declined to comment on the issue despite Eurofighter's offer.

Earlier in March, Turkey announced that it was putting the planned purchase of 100 F-35 fighter jets from the US on hold because the Pentagon refused to share the source code used in the software designed for the aircraft, as well as the codes that might be used externally to activate the planes. Lockheed is the Pentagon's top supplier by sales. It builds the F-16, F-22 and F-35 fighter aircraft, as well as the Aegis naval combat system and THAAD missile defense.

Without the source code, Turkish engineers wouldn't be able to make any changes to the software that operates the jets. The external flight codes are equally important, if not more so, as they can be used externally to navigate the jets.

The EF has far better sensors and flight performance then the F35.

Screw that what's important is to get good jets and most importantly the bloody knowhow. F35 might have many good qualities and tech-wise advantages, but more than that Turkey is interested in getting the knowhow. Remember knowledge can be used in many different areas.

I've still yet to see a domestic camera, watch in turkey.

The Indian price range of 12 billion USD is for 126 fighters. There is an option of 74 more which will be exercised. The total order size wull be in the range of 30 billion upwards of the full cycle of the entire MMRCA program.

So, why do you think all these Heads of State are visiting India ?

They understand economics and politics better than you

yes we did not have money and requested India to finance,

Turkey is a country with respect loving people sitting on the top. They are partners in F-35 program, true but they are not ready to compromise on National Interests. Software of the jet is only one of the 20 various aspects of its development but they are not ready to loose even that bit when they know their country is in need of that. Thats called Patriotism.

yes we did not have money and requested India to finance,

That's what Pakistan has been doing for quite some time....AID , Soft Loan ...and the good thing is is still running somehow !!!

Well for your request , we would love to actually give some AID to Pakistan..... REALLY

.
Why is every thread about Pakistan versus India nowadays?:what: No offense to both, but i think you are exaggerating your antogonism towards each other and it won't help India or Pakistan in the longer run. You need to focus more on political, wealth and infrastructural problems than on biting each others tails constantly. Peace out...
