EU warns China of 'reputational damage' if it backs Russia

EU is a much weaker and disjointed block now with the UK leaving it.

UK brought a good economy and military might(Navy and military industries) to it.

Now it has Germany that is reliant on energy from the Russians and France which is ok in economic and military matters.

It should shut up and not interfere in big power(USA and China) politics and manage its decline over the decades to come.

PS - Was it not the major EU countries that supported the catastrophic wars to destabilise and destroy a lot of the ME?
Dear,

Europe - even in its current form - is one of the largest economic blocs of the world and many countries benefit from Europe in some way or form. Europe including UK have had productive relations with China but geography matters and Europe have its security interests. European political tilt towards USA is not surprising in view of Russian assault on Ukraine and the fact that European security is ensured through NATO. War in Ukraine have created trust deficit between Europe and Russia and they are concerned about Chinese position in this matter. This warning therefore.

Yes but China will not care what the weakened EU thinks.

EU economy is on a slow and steady decline in terms of GDP.

China is looking decades ahead and sees a block slowly going into irrelevance as time passes.

Even now some in EU want the sanctions lifted if there is some sort of negotiated settlement. They are not even united and therefore weak.

EU should not talk above its station to a near superpower like China. They are in no position to 'warn' China.

Its not in German interest to fund russian facist regime to attack europe.

Merkel was scum and the worst chancellor than Hitler. She is hiding now, her legacy destroyed. She gets called a traitor, crook and some want investigation if she got money from Russia. Thats the good thing, she lives to see evrything she did getting destroyed.
German pride and spine is dead when Hitler was gone, although Hitler is a devil.

Your turn will not come until US thinks that India cannot counter China.

This might be the impression in Chinese calculus but it would be premature to rule out European strengths in my view.

Latest:

China is Asian powerhouse but I do not think that all countries will embrace its narrative. Chinese positions are disputed even in South China Sea and other locations.

Superpower(s) tend to be arrogant and dictatorial much like greater history have shown. Some countries have decided to diversify their investments due to this factor. Europeans are more culturally and politically inclined towards Americans, nevertheless.

European public is overwhelmingly against military spending. Right now there is massive censorship and only the pro-NATO, pro-war narrative is drummed into people.

However, once the war is over and the economic impact starts to bite, the media-forced bravado will fade. The true test will come in the next elections as opposing viewpoints start to get heard.

The sanctions on Russia are making a bad economic situation in Europe worse.

After the spending on Covid-19 a lot of European countries are basically bankrupt!

The question is if it would be better when Russia attacks Europe Hitler Style. There is no doubt that Putin wanted to do just that. Ukraine was seen as starting point. I see it as important to destroy russian military now before it attacks us.

EU has a very large and rich military.

Pretending that Russia can just conquer Europe is hilarious and dumb.

Now that the EU has basically destroyed it's hope of economic growth by sanctioning itself, it will in fact be less able to keep up military spending than before.

Strong economies produce strong militaries.

Yes, international relationships only thrive when mutual interests are aligned. Those who fail to acknowledge this obvious fact will fail at predicting what is to come.

To be candid, I'm not convinced that US is arm twisting Pakistan to the extent that many people here believe it does. Pakistan's army wants to balance its relationship between US and China; I think that it is prudent. Perhaps I'm able to think this way because I'm neither a Pakistani nor a PTI supporter.
