KARACHI: European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Jean Francois Cautain on Thursday disclosed that the EU is planning to enter into a five-year strategic partnership with Pakistan.

In a meeting with the members of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma), the ambassador stated the current relationship between the EU and Pakistan has reached a mature level and needs to be strengthened further.

This is funny. I watch EU politics a lot. So a couple of years ago, their statements about Pakistan and today, this "strategic partnership" really means that they had no option left and their businessmen were putting a stick up the rear of their politicians that they need to take advantage of one of the fastest growing economies very quickly, before its too late and Chinese, Russian, and US companies might steal the entire pie. Well, good going Pakistan.

5 years of GSP+ ?

Sir, strategic means it is beyond one specific industry. Like any business / economy, the EU companies want to grow too. So initially they might start with one industry, but the strategic relationships really means "preferred bi-lateral trade in many industries". So this means Pakistan would have access to EU products and tech, while Pakistan can sell them their Textile and whatever other stuff Pakistan builds better. Thanks

Its mean that India fail to make it finish goods and sell it in good price and Pakistan take advantage of this situation. Good going Pakistan
