I think this guy is exaggerating and extrapolating too much. Everybody knows Ertugrul is based on a Turkish dynasty. People in Pakistan enjoy learning and watching the Islamic history aspect of the tv series. History of Islam is what allows people to better connect. Just because someone has posted tweets suggesting otherwise doesn't mean his point of an identity crisis is true.

Also many people are watching the series given its connection to Ottoman empire history. It is more for educational and entertainment purposes. Nobody in Pakistan is claiming that there are ethnic ties to the story.

2. It has a global cult following. Most Pakistani fans have watched online streams with urdu or English translation.

4. It portrays Conservative Islamic values which align with the values of a lot of its viewers.
5. It's a show where Muslims are heroes, where they win, where they don't act the victim. Its motivating.
