Erdogan asks Musk to build Tesla factory in Turkey

All car manufacturers are leaving Turkey. I doubt Tesla would go in but Musk is a crazy guy. He goes in when others go out. No Turk will be able to afford a Tesla though. Traffic is just not suitable and no infrastructure. Too expensive too.

Only HONDA left Turkiye
Renault , Ford , Fiat , Toyota , Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz are still in Turkiye

Turkiye’s geographic location as well as its Customs Union agreement with the European Union make it an ideal hub for automotive manufacturers seeking to penetrate markets in Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East

Turkiye expects at least one global electric car producer to invest in the country

FORD investing in electric vehicle production in Turkiye
TESLA and two producer from China is interested in investing in Turkiye

also Turkiye has fully electric automotive brand TOGG

Turkiye aims to increase the number of electric vehicle charging sockets from 3,378 to 38,000

By the end of 2023, there will be over 69.000 electric vehicles in Turkiye
In 2030, this number will reach 2.5 million.

And Turkiye has huge rich people to pay even $200.000 for trash BMW 5.25 , Audi A6 oe Mercedes E200

A significant tax advantage is provided for the widespread use of electric vehicles starting from 10%

A 75% discount is also applied to the motor vehicle tax collected every year.

maybe but turkeis can afford teslas price? they also have one in germany to sell europe who they will sell exept turkey if they put there the factory?
Tesla’s can be produced cheaper in Turkiye. That means more profit for Tesla.

Elon Musk is a Mavrick, so anything is possible.

On one hand Turkey is theoretically well situated geographically to export cars to the region. Erdogan has for the last few years reversed a decade of confrontational relations and is on an extended charm offensive in the region. He seems to have also stopped his idiotic interest rate policy at least for now. Turkey also has the makings of being _the_ regional power in the forthcoming deglobalized world. It's
TFR is currently only slightly below replacement levels which is better than many in the region especially Europe. It has a large, educated workforce, is a net food exporter, and has many natural resources.

On the other hand, it has become more unstable with power increasingly centralized in a president with mercurial mood swings. It is in an earthquake prone region, and after falling out with Iran, it currently largely relies for power on Russian gas and oil which might be considered a risk.

It will be interesting to see what Mr Musk decides.

The major problem is that the Turkish car market is shrinking due to high taxes on cars.

Erdo will probably give the land for free but Turkey is a risky place to build a factory for many reasons.

Also why would Musk invest in a country where the government will openly support his local rival, in this case TOGG

You don't know what you talking about. Erdogan will always be bad in the eyes of Kemalists.
