Envoy: Iran among China's Most Important Trade Partners

15:20 | 2013-01-05
TEHRAN (FNA)- Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Yu Hung Yang described Iran as one of the most important trade partners of Beijing, and underlined the necessity for the further strengthening of his country's ties and cooperation with Iran in all fields.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most important trade partners of China," Yu Hung Yang said in a meeting with a number of Iranian traders in Mazandaran province, Northern Iran, on Saturday.

He praised the good and high-level ties with Iran, and said the two countries are politically in consensus over various issues and have no problem with each other.

Yu Hung Yang also called for the further increase in all-out cooperation with Iran.

China, like Russia, has consistently opposed the US pressures on Iran and the West's economic sanctions imposed on the Iranian financial sector and petroleum products.

China has refused to comply with US requests to decrease oil imports from Iran and instead has increased its trade with the country

Trade between Iran and China in the past year was estimated at $45 billion.

Half of Iran's post-sanction oil exports headed for China
Marc Howe | January 6, 2013
Four leading Asian economies currently account for almost of Iran's exports of oil, with 50% headed for China, according to a new report released last week by the Economist's Intelligence Unit (EIU).

The Diplomat reports that almost all of Iran's oil exports are now destined for China, South Korea, Japan and India, although all four nations have seen a severe reduction in their purchase levels.

Following sanctions imposed by the US and EU to deter Tehran from pursuing its nuclear program exports of oil from the Islamic Republic have halved.

The EIU report says oil is the mainstay of Iran's exports and the lifeblood of government earnings, comprising 80% of all export income as well as over half of state revenue.

The US/EU sanctions have left Iran highly dependent upon Asia, and China in particular, which is currently estimated to purchase 50% of Iran's total oil exports.

No need to strengthen relations, Trade is a different scenario but the military threat still remains.
India has lot of trade deficit with China where as with ASEAN India is in advantageous situation so India should concentrate more on ASEAN than China.
@Etiene India is also one of the top trading partners with Iran.

Compared to other countries Iran's options are limited making balancing acts difficult and the situation more dangerous. But you are right I think.

I saw an interview with a Tibetan monk on RT, trust me they are better off that way. Of course ur Indian so wouldn't believe it

Anyways, it's illogical that Han would leave their coastal mega cities with modern luxuries for Tibet?
