Dear friends of life and Nature,
Last Goodbye is the book which mentions about the most beautiful hill station of the sub continent , which is known as Abbottabad.
Authorities have now decided to convert this small portion of original Abbottabad to a Shah Alam market of Lahore.
Chopped Camphor trees , Flag and photos of the ruling political party PTI of Imran Khan and soon to be killed , remaining centuries old trees are shown in this photograph.
Army and Cantt. authorities have now approved the biggest Mega commercial plaza at this greenest and the most historic bungalow of Abbottabad, which was leased to Air Marshall Asghar Khan.
This place contained ever green fragrant camphor trees which were brought from England in 1880 AD on the reccomendation of the civil surgeon of Hazara .
Forest reporter magazine reported in 1907 that introduction of Camphor trees in Abbottabad cantonment had reduced bronchitis, pneumonia attacks and seasonal fever among troops who were stationed at Abbottabad.
This bungalow was part of those original approx 40 bungalows of Abbottabad which had huge green areas around them and which contained all kind of native and exotic trees.
Presence of those green belts and trees made Abbottabad so green which made government to ban sub division of the green areas of those original bungalows and chopping of green trees was not permitted at any cost..
After partition of India in 1947, this huge bungalow of pine view road was leased to Air Marshall Asghar Khan who nurtured this place with great love and made this spot as the greenest spot of Abbottabad.
Elder son of A/M Asghar Khan Omar Asghar Khan stayed at the little bungalow type annexe , which was part of this grand residence and which has been demolished recently in order to build this biggest commercial plaza of Abbottabad.
He loved those fragrant Camphor trees and he was the one who told us about the history of those Camphor trees.
He also contributed towards the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act of 1997.
Through out his life he fought for the trees, birds and down trodden people of his motherland.
After his mysterious death at young age this place went under the control of his younger brother Ali Asghar Khan who shifted his family to Canada and opened office of PTI at the demolished annexe.
In the year 2005 he attempted to build a commercial plaza at this greenest site and building plan was approved by the cantonment authorities.
That permit was withdrawn later on when it surfaced that Ministry of Defence had banned construction of commercial plazas at the huge leased bungalows of original Abbottabad vide letter no 72/90/Lands/ML&C/88-G DATED 24.5.1989
Commercial activities on Pine View road was restricted upto Cantt PlaZA and after that residential and sensitive area starts.
Younger bother of Late Omar Asghar Khan , Ali Asghar Khan joined PTI , which is now the ruling political party of the famous political leader Imran Khan of pakistan.
When PTI of Imran Khan came to power then Ali Asghar Khan got surrounded by property giants who started bringing building waste , concrete boulders etc and started filling the green belts and ravines which were present around and inside this residential property.
Recently he became successful again in getting huge plaza building permit from Army authorities and quickly demolished annexe of Omar Asghar Khan and chopped down surrounding Camphor trees which reminded us of Late Omar Asghar Khan.
Army authorities issued him that permit without conducting any public hearing which is mandatory as per constitution of Pakistan.
Pakistan Environmental Protection Act also required mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment ( EIA ) before starting any cutting of trees or demolition / reconstruction process.
Dumping of building waste in the green belts and building a plaza without EIA are crimes punishable by fine and jail.
This huge commercial plaza will open doors for similar commercial plazas in the neighbouring historic residences of Cantonment and those huge centuries old trees will be destroyed forever.
There was a little children's park which was located across this residence, that little park has reportedly been sold off to a famous politician of the backward region of Hazara.
As far as security is concerned this residence is located in an extremely sensitive area.
Abbottabad Christian School, office of the DIG Hazara police, residence of Session Judge Various Army messes and bungalows are located across this proposed mega commercial plaza.
Construiction of this concrete monster will destroy peace, tranquility, silence, greenery, safety and sanity of this extremely fragile and environmentally sensitive historic district of Abbottabad Cantonment.
These are the last moments of the greenery of Abbottabad, we have to say goodbye to the remaining few peaceful and green streets of Abbottabad.
Birds of Abbottabad are going to be homeless and lovers of Abbottabad are planning to go on hunger strike till death in order to protest against this biggest Environmental attack on their nest , known as Abbottabad.
