Recently watching News on ARY, I noticed a rolling news item on the ticker tape mentioning someone from Muslim League joining PTI and I said to my self, not these guys Imran not these opportunists from the present political parties, they will make your PTI just another PPP, Nawaz league clone.

Although I am not PTI supporter but I admire Imran for what he has done before joining politics and his charity work and his steadfast stance while in Politics although I have few objections but nothing major.

This news item shows how I or someone else might be thinking and how strongly the PTI supporters and workers are reacting to these news of some known characterless leaders that jump ship when they it suits them. These people can dilute the essence of PTI and that what Imran would need to watch out for if he wants to sell his party as a different and fresh breath of air in the politics of Pakistan.

PESHAWAR: The recent induction of some ‘turncoats’ in Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), which is very optimistic about its future in electoral politics in the country, has frustrated its workers and leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Information gathered by Dawn reveal that PTI, which is looking for winning horses, has been in contact with some sitting lawmakers and influential political figures in the province to bring them to its folds before the next general elections.

However, entry of ‘turncoats’ has disappointed PTI workers and leaders in the province as they fear that induction of ‘opportunists’ would dent the popularity of the party among people, particularly the youths, who want a real and positive change in the country.

“We are not against the new entrants in the party, but it will damage the morale of workers if the known turncoats are given senior positions or tickets for the coming polls. If this happens, there will be no difference between PTI and other parties,” a senior PTI leader tells Dawn .

The PTI leaders suspect that politicians, who are known for changing loyalties, are lobbying to join PTI before next general elections to obtain party tickets. They say that the core committee has decided that PTI will be ideological, revolutionary and anti-status quo party and there will be no room for opportunists.

“Some elements are encouraging these notorious opportunists to join the PTI,” says a party source.

According to the office-bearers, Provincial Minister for Irrigation Pervez Khattak and another former minister of Pakistan People’s Party from Nowshera district along with his friends are using different channels to ensure their entry in the PTI.

“There is frustration among the workers since some known turncoats have shown their intentions through media about joining the party,” he says, adding that PTI has not approached or invited these people to join the party.

Pervez Khattak denies that he has any contact with the PTI or any other party. “Let the people discuss political discourse. But neither I have shown such intentions nor any party has approached me,” he says.

The cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan`s PTI claims that it has enrolled over one million members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PTI activists are convinced that they will clean bold their rivals in the next elections.

A senior office-bearer of the party says that PIT will not enter into electoral alliance with any party except Jamaat-i-Islami. He adds that they will field candidates on all seats in the province where voters` mode is very unpredictable.

Some political figures have recently joined PTI and many have been negotiating their deals. The Awami National Party MNA from Mardan, Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, has inducted his son Omar Farooq in PTI.

Few days ago a farmer MPA of the ruling PPP from Nowshera, Qurban Ali Khan, joined PTI. Political observers say that Qurban`s switch over to PTI can be a setback for PPP in the district.

Another MPA of PPP from Peshawar, a former nazim and a diehard jiyala from Peshawar are ready to join the party.

Sources in PTI say that two sitting MPAs from Swat, another MPA from Nowshera and a minister, who belongs to Kohat district, have approached the party. However, one MPA from Swat district when approached did not comment.

MPA Israrullah Khan Gandapur, the son of former chief minister Inayatullah Khan Gandapur, who got elected on PPP-S ticket from Dera Ismail Khan told Dawn that PTI office-bearers had approached him for joining the party.

Insiders say that allotment of tickets in the upcoming elections will depend upon educational qualification, credibility, financial status and social status of the candidates. However, the party’s office-bearers and workers will be given priority in the allotment of the tickets.

They say that some former officers of the intelligence agencies are facilitating the party in selection of candidates. “These retired officers are collecting data about political personalities with their previous records and provide it to PTI,” says one source. Political analysts say that PTI’s future is depended on understanding between the PPP and ANP in the province.

Recently watching News on ARY, I noticed a rolling news item on the ticker tape mentioning someone from Muslim League joining PTI and I said to my self, not these guys Imran not these opportunists from the present political parties, they will make your PTI just another PPP, Nawaz league clone....
You r prolly talking of "Mian Azhar"... NO it won't make PTI clone of PML & PP coz the primary difference is of "The Leader"...
Many were "good-guys" but before they did NOT have any choice BUT to join "اندهوں ميں كانا راجه" i.e. PML,,, but despite being "good-guys" they would do what their corrupt or semi-corrupt leader would tell them to....

Now , when these "good-guys" would be under the umbrella of a "non-corrupt" IK, they would follow policies of Imran Khan NOT their own....

If boss of a department is good,, ALL of the staff no matter how corrupt they are will be tamed & will be disciplined... while, if boss is corrupt, then ALL staff no matter how honest they are, would be forced to follow the route of corruption... I have 2 first hand examples of this,,, 2 of my frnds, one ws in sand-department of Govt. of Pak & other was in OGDC... but were forced to fiddle with docs by their bosses,,, both of them were "good-guys" & had to resign....

So the apparent "turn-coats" especially this Mian Azhar had left PML a while ago,,,, under the auspice of a good leader he'll do what ever his leader will have him do...

Former Punjab Governor Mian Azhar joins PTI--Lahore to be PTI's fort, says Imran

LAHORE - Mian Muhammad Azhar, the founding chief of the PML-Q, on Wednesday joined Imran Khan’s PTI along with his other colleagues. He announced his decision at a joint press conference, held at his residence, with the PTI chief. Former district Naib Nazim Lahore and ex-MNA of PML-Q Farooq Amjad Mir also joined the PTI on this occasion.
It would not be wrong to say that Farooq Amjad Mir had rejoined the PTI, as he was part of the PTI before jumping to PML-Q train in Musharraf’s regime. Former governor Mian Azhar also challenged a certain political party, pledging he would turn Lahore into a stronghold of the PTI.
He said country needed leaders like Imran Khan who could provide alternative and clean and sincere leadership for resolving all the issues facing the country and providing equal opportunities in every field to all the country men.
Imran Khan on this occasion, while welcoming Mian Azhar in PTI ranks said that former governor’s joining would prove a great victory for PTI in its political battle for Lahore. He said PTI had always held Mian Azhar in great esteem and the veteran politician’s experience would prove as a great asset for PTI in electoral politics. He while claiming that PTI would get a sizeable support in the City in the next polls said that the political forces claiming Lahore and Punjab as their fort would get a different message from the masses in the future.
Imran said that the rulers having assets abroad could never guarantee relief for the people and justice was the only solution to the prevailing problems of Pakistan. He said the government had failed on every front.

nsiders say that allotment of tickets in the upcoming elections will depend upon educational qualification, credibility, financial status and social status of the candidates. However, the party’s office-bearers and workers will be given priority in the allotment of the tickets.

i hope they stick to the criteria and i think he will

PTI should avoid them at all costs.

or it will just become another clone

Problem with this approach is that as long as their is a strong good leader it will work but what after him ?

IK should instead try to work on grassroots level and generate an honest next generation leadership even if this approach takes him decade to show any results. Never Compromise on the things that can not be compromised.

Irfan!! This is the reality he can't escapes from it!! more than 80% voting in our electorate system are based on Baradary, Cast, Language, Ethnicity and he needs those candidate no matter what he say infront of screen or to ordinary people in a gatering, behind close doors everyone in PTI is "Searching" for "right Candidates" right this moment which is a natural thing in our kinds of politics.

It will be better for all these future pawns (Ordinary poeple, Burger Party) to understands this game of chess, his shortcomings (Actually its every party's limitatatons) it will be better for everyone including themselves.

IK should be fear enough with poeple and don't make those promises in the first place which he could not deliver in future...... but than again.... he is an ordinary politician in every sense and exactly doing the same things which every oridinary politicain do while in opposition.

If boss of a department is good,, ALL of the staff no matter how corrupt they are will be tamed & will be disciplined... while, if boss is corrupt, then ALL staff no matter how honest they are, would be forced to follow the route of corruption... You are Absolutely right My dear Sur about your above stated theory i ditto your above statement

BUTTTTTT

Lottas have no leader except "Agencies" the moment they turn off thier switches the next they will be history from your camps!!!!
That's why i always say that IK & PTI are in initial stages of a vicious circle of our establishment right now.

First they took him to NA from no where in 2002.
Now they gathering people (Lotas) around him one by one.
Once he got a sizeable seats with their help indeed, they will use him to thier deeds like tissue paper.
The moment IK realizes that he would not get along with his masters any longer the next these lotas will blackmailing him and eventually he has to do what all puppets do.

If this is indeed the case, as also reported by Dawn of today, then Imran Khan is doing the same as what Musharaff did. Inoculating the same old corrupt politicians in PMLQ was the suicide warrant for Musharraf, thats when he started loosing his appeal.

Imran Khan or PTI will not benefit from such moves. And indeed he will loose his voters who want fresh young and honest leadership coupled with the sagacity of true honest technocrat Pakistanis who have the capability to give Pakistan sure shot economic strategy to pull Pakistan out of the present quagmire.

Imran needs to understand that he will be doing the injustice with Pakistanis if this is his approach. His appeal lies in the fact that he blatantly shuns all the corpulent and inapt parties and politicians and does not compromise with them nor seeks rapprochement with them.

in my eyes this is a mini NRO, I hope I'm wrong! Just when I had started to believe that Imran Khan might be the man...
