China has made heavy investments for years trying to offset US military superiority.

The US is just getting started. Now that our defense strategy is focused on near peer competitors the appropriate funds are now being allocated to maintain our technological superiority. That's why Selva stated we have the funds required to do so.

At this very moment USA has 3 airship carriers docked in Manila and Def Sec is at talks in China. Previously these ship would some where in SCS. The difference is visible.

China is building military equipment faster than any nation on the face of this planet. their tech is also tested in many nations. Chinese navy is getting stronger as I type this message. it is a very fast race. The Type 055 is a very huge ship that every one should fear there is no ship in the arsenal of any country like type 055. China is making multiple aircraft carriers. They may not have military presence around the globe but they have half the globe and rest is Russia supporting them.

China played the smart card. USA supported China against Russia and China Supported Russia against USA. While USA was focused on Russia China got a free ride. USA is still entrenched in Middle east and China is still focused on building all it's arsenal with out anything holding back. Either USA can fight middle east or USA can catch China doing both is not possible at this point.

No it doesn't. The Reagan carrier group is only in Manila for a goodwill visit. The US Navy has homeported in other countries for decades. You don't have a clue what your talking about.

The 97,000-ton USS Ronald Reagan, carrying more than 70 aircraft, anchored in Manila Bay on Tuesday after plying the strategic waters for meetings between navy officials of the two countries and liberty for its thousands of sailors after weeks at sea.

The U.S. military presence in the region "has supported our ability to defend our nation and our allies" and "promotes our ability to safeguard freedom of the seas, unimpeded commerce, to deter conflict and coercion and to promote adherence to rules-based international order," Rear Admiral Marc Dalton told reporters on board the ship.

Two other American carriers earlier patrolled the waterway, where China and five other governments have been locked in decades of disputes over territories that straddle some of the world's busiest sea lanes. Some areas are believed to have undersea deposits of natural gas and oil.

Is this a joke? The US military is the most capable in human history. It's able to project power in any part of the world and sustain those operations for years on end.

This article is just stating the US has the necessary funds to advance our technological superiority in the face of sustained investments by our competitors.

Yes, it can project but not win. It's biggest weakness is the human factor. Their soldiers are all bigged up but when it comes to the crunch they are human just like us. Don't delay bomb today mentality is a colonial attitude and so far hasn't changed much on the ground.
