Taksim looks awful... saw some photos of the so called renovations made on it and the quality is not what you would imagine as good enough for a city with the ambitions to be a World brand. And it's not only at Taksim though. Istanbul is losing it's charm- overcrowded concrete jungle with no real planning and green spaces in it.

I'm not a very good photographer and using phone camera, but here some pics.

It looks you are walking around the historical peninsula(Sultanahmet with great mosques, museums,Beşiktaş with palace, mosques, BJK stadium and great view of bosphorus,Beyazıt and Taksim). There are many spots waiting for you tho.

How about the foods, have you tried any food at streets or restaurants?

I hope you share more pics or videos of Türkiye for those who wonder your experience in Türkiye.

I stayed at Beyazit area, visited; Sultan Ahmet, Topkaki palace, Bascilia cistern, Haghia Sophia, Bogazici/Bosphorus river, Taksim meydani, republic monument, Gezi park, Istiklal street in Taksim, Dolmabahce palace, Galata bridge. Taksim, Besiktas, Kadikoy, Karakoy. I saw more of the European side of Istanbul than the Asian side.

Tried some Turkish food at restaurants, which i'm all quite familiar with given Iraqi food is quite the same. Though unfortunately I missed out on this as I completely forgot it, I missed the 'street food' stuff you see on Youtube. Though I must say to properly see this town in 1 week you need a lot of energy, which is no issue for me but it would be for middle aged people. Very friendly people there though, even though I had a fight the first day but that aside everyone was welcoming. I like it more than the Netherlands, I can feel the absence of individualism there as people feel part of a nation which is what I identify with as well, that doesn't exist in Europe.

I will post more when i find good ones, have to look through them all still haven't done.

Taksim looks awful...
I visited it right after the construction was finished, the good thing is traffic is underground now but the huge concrete place is just bad, why not something like this?

I disagree. In time Istanbul will be the financial capital of the world, there are too many signs and indications pointing Istanbul to be a world class city.

If you have driven through Istanbul you would notice how there's a dramatic shift/transformation from old to new. There's major Urban Renewal Projects happening in most strategic points of Istanbul.

One of the largest projects is Fikirtepe,

I'll be traveling to Istanbul, Antalya and Cappadocia in September, In Shaa Allah. I want to ask the Turk members me to help me out a little bit on the activities in these three cities as I am going for the the first time with my family.

I know the historical monuments and cruise ships are popular in Istanbul and so is the Grand Bazaar. Is there anything else I can check out? Some specialty of Istanbul that my family and I don't miss?Any restaurant recommendations? What about the transport system there? Should I take trains, bus or taxi to roam around the city?

For Antalya, I hear the marine side is great. Great water sport activities. what else can we do there?Any other recommendations for activities and relaxing?

Cappadocia, we booked this city just because of hot balloon ride. But we are going to be staying longer here. What else can I do in the city?Any other activities suggestions will be great

I read many topics of foreigners, but honestly they confuse me more. I best thought to ask the people living in Turkey what to do when we get there. Would be grateful for any help provided.

Thanks Alot :)

Thanks.

I am going to be spending 6 days in each city. Can you tell me more about the transport system in the country? How do I travel from Fatih (where our hotel is) to new parts of Istanbul?
Also the weather in the city?

.
Also I want to keep my internet on for gps and some other apps to keep on working while I am in Turkey. I can't take the roaming option because its too expensive. How do I acquire a SIM card just for this purpose?
