History of the UN’s Official Languages
The history of the UN’s official languages, presented by the Dag Hammarskjöld Library, gives the history of when each of the six official languages of the United Nations became official, beginning in 1946.

Has Modi protested on this subject which is akin to an insult for billion plus Indians? India after all is the world's largest democracy. Why does the fastest growing economy get no respect in the UN?

Forget the inclusion in the UNSC (which is a distant dream), I am talking about the inclusion of Hindi language spoken by most of the Indians = 260 million.

The only reason India has been sidelined at the UN means it is inconsequential in the world affairs.

This is a shame for India, while its PM does nothing.

That's because India treats its Dalit citizens as sub-humans.

.
English is the #1 language of India as Indian constitution is written in English.

Furthermore, if 8ndia propose Hindi, it would need to support Tamil as well.

.
there are like 5000+ languages on earth, lets debate why 4994+ other languages are not official yet, seriously PDF? allowing such trolls to dump filth freely over the forum has driven all the good posters away, it wont be long when handful remaining might leave. God, i miss those glory era of this forum when it use have serious intense discussion, now a days its all about mud slinging, butt hurt, trolling.

am 100% sure, now even mods don't care, they themselves don't remain active much.

Hindi in United Nations

OUTLINE

1. A Request to Make Hindi an Official Language of United Nations

2. Our Objection to Hindi in the United Nations

3. Hindi Imposition and Language Discrimination within India Should Stop First

4. Hindi is not the Language of a Billion People

5. Opposition to Hindi Imposition in India

6. How about Indian Peoples' Mother Tongues in Indian Parliament?

7. What is the Benefit of Making Hindi an Official Language at the United Nations?

8. Our Request to the United Nations

8. Our Request to the United Nations

Under these circumstances, we plead to the United Nations not to consider India's request to make Hindi an official language until it corrects its discriminatory language policy within India. Only after the people of each non-Hindi state certify through popular vote that they are satisfied with Indian Government's language policy should United Nations consider Indian Government request. If and when the Indian Governments rectifies its discriminatory language policy to the satisfaction of all the non-Hindi states, Tamil people would have no objection to making Hindi an official language of the United Nations (UN).
