HARIPUR: Accusing politicians of causing great harm to the country, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Saturday endorsed Bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujeeb’s statement that Islamabad’s roads were probably being built through revenue earned from Chittagong’s jute fields.
“Sheikh Mujeeb was very right in saying that we, the politicians from West Pakistan, looted Bengalis and deprived them of their rights. The pace of development is fast in Bangladesh now as they have improved their system of governance and are now among few developing nations,” Khattak said. The K-P CM was addressing different public gatherings in Ghazi, Haripur and Havelian areas.

He said politicians were responsible for harming the social and economic fabric of the country as they introduced corruption and nepotism, took ‘commissions’ in uplift schemes of public welfare and meddled in the affairs of government departments. “Even our enemy India has failed to do in the last 70 years what we have done to this country,” he said.
Khattak said transparency, good governance, honest leadership and elimination of corruption and ‘sifarish culture’ were the key ingredients of pro-people policy and real development.
He said the ANP-led previous coalition government in K-P handed the PTI a province, riddled with imbroglios of destructed infrastructure, terrorism, targeted killings, kidnapping and corruption.
“They [the ANP government] were selling tenders of road construction for 10% commission. The also sold jobs in police, health, education and revenue departments,” Khatak said. However, he said, the PTI was voted to power for bringing change and it has brought about desired changes within three years.
Referring to his government’s Right to Services law, he said it was meant to end ‘sifarish’ and corruption from government departments but this goal could only be achieved when the people cooperate with the government by pinpointing the corrupt and gathering evidence against them.
He said the PTI government had hired 40,000 new teachers for filling the vacant posts in schools and appointed doctors and nurses in hospitals. He said the government allocated Rs12 billion for providing missing facilities in the educational institutions and Rs12 billion for increasing doctors’ salaries. “In order to improve healthcare facilities, obsolete and out of order hospital machinery will be brought by December this year,” he added.

He expressed confidence that the PTI would again return to power with the support of the masses. The way his government had delivered has no precedence in the country’s 70-year history. While announcing development schemes for Haripur district, the CM approved a medical college in Ghazi tehsil, announcing Rs300 million for different developmental schemes and upgrading of Ghazi Hospital.
He also announced construction of higher secondary school for girls in Kotehra union council, upgrading of Khanpur as tehsil, Rs150 million for beautification of Haripur city, land for graveyards and acceleration of construction work on Rs290 millions project of Women and Children Hospital Haripur.
PTI media cell denies reference to East Pakistan
When contacted, the head of the PTI Central Media Department Iftikhar Durrani denied Khattak made any statement mentioning East Pakistan or Mujibur Rehman. He referred to the official PTI handout of Khattak’s address wherein there was no mention of the statement in question. Durrani added that PTI owns ‘whatever is written in the official handout’.

Politically motivated since PTI wants to block Islamabad on November 2nd, once my Bangladeshi friend told me Pakistan built all its motorways through stolen money from Bangladesh, lol, a motorway made in late 1990s. One someone wrote an article on dawn, some bangladeshi guys visited lahore, went to see the British Colonial architecture on Mall Road, and claimed that these buildings were constructed from stolen money from Bangladesh. Upon being reminded by the author of the article that these buildings are from colonial era, they got pretty embarrassed. Jute isn't oil or gas, no one can make an entire city out of Jute. Pakistan is around 8 times the size of Bangladesh with much more resources. Any sane person can comprehend that Jute can't be used to fund construction of entire city that too a capital, that too like Islamabad, which is one of the region's cleanest and developed cities. Had Jute been so effective, Bangladesh would have had atleast 10 cities like Islamabad right now, its a fantasy fed to Bangladeshi population. Good for them

Mr. Pencil Khatak and PAK Tribune probably have earned 2 Indian Rupees by falsifying on Historically established facts and figures. Current BD used to be BRITS's hinterland and their Hindu-stooges in the form of Jamideers used to impose draconian taxation laws on its people. There was nothing except 2 clothing factories prior 1947 as industry but Migrant Indians and W. Pakistanis built 247 of it from there on, some of which were world classes (Adamji, CTG Steel Mills, Dry Dock, Eastern Refinary, GM Plant, Joydebpur Machine Tools Factory etc.) at that time.They also built 3 Engineering Colleges (Current BITS), BUET, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Mymensingh Agri UNIVVS and numerous Medical Colleges. Even Kaptai Swedish, Komolapur Rail Station and Current Parliament were built by them.
The enormity of infra, educational and industrial development even astound invading Indian soldiers that admitted of not having things that E PAK possessed and asked People why they were complaining. So, Mr. Khatak parroting of the the then Federation's stealing from E PAK needed to check his motive, IMO.

Gross mismanagement of present rulers, their ad hoc and myopic policies, acquisition of expired rental power units, acceptance of strict IMF terms, maddening increase in power tariff coupled with power outages up to 18 hours a day have put an unprecedented load on the common Pakistani.
This was stated by senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League, Moonis Elahi while talking to party workers in London yesterday. He said the way the present government was handling the existing power crisis was extremely flawed.
He stated that if the government did not revise its current power policies immediately there was every possibility that there might be electricity available in future but with very few people able to afford it. He said that the rumor was rife that the government was increasing power rates to a further 30% to 40% in the next few months.
Moonis Elahi said that at present the country was engulfed in darkness, almost 60% factories had closed down, farms were giving a desolate look and there was an acute shortage of water and electricity for domestic users. He alleged that despite 12 to 18 hours of power load shedding in the country the power companies were sending the consumers 20% to 30% inflated bills.
He blamed the present ruling clique for these ills. He pointed out at the alarming increase in unemployment, which had pushed millions into abject poverty in the last 18 months and blamed the present ruling alliance as solely responsible for this sorry state of affairs. He said the rulers were busy spending valuable public money on their personal comforts and luxuries while the daily trials and tribulations of the common man on the other hand were multiplying at an alarming rate.
He pointed out at the soaring rise in the occurrence of suicides and crimes and blamed the present government’s selfish and myopic policies as the main reason for these unfortunate trends. He declared that N league was equally responsible with coalition partner PPP in the present power crisis and in all other problems being faced by the country.
Moonis Elahi said that the current power crisis was threatening the economic foundations of Pakistan but the government instead of finding long term and sustainable solutions and remedial measures was going for ad hoc and myopic decisions and policies aiming at self aggrandizement and personal gains.
He stated that seeking IMF loans on stringent terms and acquiring used and out dated rental power units were not a solution to the problem. He blamed the ruling alliance for deliberately keeping the parliament in the dark on all steps with regard to solving the country’s energy crisis. He warned that the $ 2 billions overload of the rental power units will have a devastating effect on the national economy and it was the role of the parliament to step in and put a stop to this blatant loot and plunder.
He pointed out that only in Punjab over 30,000 industrial units had closed down due to power shortage and there was an alarming increase in public anger and protests but to no avail.
Moonis Elahi said that the government in an unplanned and short sighted manner was increasing the country’s reliance on fossil fuel for power generation whereas the long term solution to the problem was in implementing a pragmatic and aggressive hydel power policy. He strongly urged the need for construction of hydel power projects including Kalabagh dam and urged the present government to set aside its political exigencies and work with all parties to foment a national consensus for the construction of the much needed hydel power projects in the country.
