Endless War Is a Feature of Our National Programming

USA and Taliban have a deal courtesy of Trump administration. Biden administration is honoring the deal. Nothing more: Nothing less.

It's not like Taliban defeated US-led forces in actual battles and imposed instrument of surrender on Americans.

Understand the deal.

The deal was something US wanted, and honoring is something that should be not be associated with americans, they have no other choice.

How will you define defeat? One side spent $2 trillion, threw everything it had in its arsenal in order to eliminate a rag tag militia and still were unable to do so, even its most priced target OBL died a peaceful death in AFG and not in Abbottabad as most people believe. In the end the superpower had to negotiate with the same people for exit.

FYI

Khan administration (Pakistan) is not a fan of Pakistan being the launchpad for American military in Afghanistan. Imran Khan is particularly vocal in this aspect.

Now USA needs Pakistan to sustain its presence in Afghanistan; Americans cannot do much otherwise.

Luckily for Khan, Donald Trump shared his sentiments:

“We will no longer use American military might to construct democracies in faraway lands, or try to rebuild other countries in our own image. Those days are now over.” - Donald Trump

Once you make a deal, you have to honor it. Remember JCPOA saga? It haunts Americans to this day.

USA have so much Firepower at its disposal that that it can GLASS entire region in a matter of minutes and be done with it. There won't be any survivors in sight. It is very easy for Americans to apply brutal force tactics to WIN in the region. The catch is that a huge number of people will die consequently. Trump also hinted something on these lines once. But this wasn't the objective of the war or was it? The objective was to dismantle Al-Qaeda Network and introduce political reforms in Afghanistan.

So what was the deal with Taliban about? Taliban have agreed to prevent resurgence of Al-Qaeda Network in exchange for withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. Case closed.

Some people are misreading a deal as defeat.

Here is another analogy: Do you think Pakistan lost in Kargil War? Pakistan decided to withdraw its troops under American pressure in fact. Pakistan had not decided to give it all to the conflict. Indians declared victory on the other hand. It wasn't technically.

.
Hmmm some here are wondering about objectives hmmmm :

Peace is so BAD for business …

The Chinese posters here on one hand criticize the US for deaths in Afghanistan and then on the other criticize the US for not "winning" by apparently not killing all the Taliban. :cuckoo:

Wow! Wiping out the Taliban was not on the agenda.

The secondary objective was to support an alternative government to the Taliban that wouldn't be supportive of such groups as al-Queada. That has failed. The people have spoken and that's that. Time to leave.

The primary was al-Quaeda and Osama not the Taliban.
