Embrace India, not Pakistan, says US columnist

Thanks for rating my intellect!! and that too coming from an Indian! very credible indeed!

India frankly has not been that important over the years to join any 'camp'. Your government would have loved to have the US forces operate out of your neighborhood into Afghanistan, but that also did not come to a head as the US preferred, as always, to deal with Pakistan. The world simply see's you as an overly populated Rabbit-Land where they can sell low value items such as, Coke, Pepsi and perhaps a Cadbury here and there and oh yes, your populace makes it a good call center environment. India is neither strategically placed or historically inclined to influence and regional politics.

The Great Game of super powers has always been played in the arena which is now Pakistan.

Yeh wat an arena along with IRAN&Afganisthan strange u like being compared to them:hitwall:

This article is right on all counts, except for the fact that:

1) It equates non-alignment with the US as anti-Americanism
2) It states that it is the Pakistani elite that are against American influence in Pakistan
3) It seems to think that the majority in Pakistan actually rejoice over the "aid" we receive.

1 - It is perfectly normal to not support the US and not be against them. If you still subscribe to the With us or against us mindset in America then your intellect level is up at par with Bush.

2 - The Pakistani elite are the last hope for America in Pakistan. It is not self-hate, but I think Americans feel a little to uncomfortable when we ask them questions like "Why do you keep bribing these elites?"

3 - As seen with the Kerry Lugar Bill, ALL of Pakistan was mocking and ridiculing the whole thing, but only the elites, that too Zardari's camp wanted to sign it, because in reality all that money would be diverted into his accounts and at the end of his term he would run away with it. Then America will come to us, the Pakistani people to get the returns on its investment. You Pay Zardari and the Pakistani people have to pay you. You see where the problem is Mr. Hitchens.
