Electricity shortfall in the country reaches 8,500 MW

Almost all the homes in Pakistan must have gen-sets now i guess...!! But the electricity they produce is very costly as compared to that provided by the grid.. It must be a drain on the common people monthly home expense.. How much do you guys have to shell out per month for that ganerator driven electricity?? Any approximate amount??

1000 rupees everyday for my home, so thats about 30k rupees per month. Pretty much all businesses are run by using generators, it has literally drove up the prices sky high.

we already have installed capacity..all we have to do is to convert them into coal and improve billing

if we run them on gas now and improve billing we can still manage due to 30% hydro producition

That's correct, the economic future of Pakistan is at stake here. I can't expect much improvement in Pakistan's economy without electricity. That's why this issue has to be given greater priority, not only is the populace suffering, but the country itself is going to suffer via increased unemployment, inflation, devaluation of currency, & a reduction in purchasing power parity, etc.

The fire completely gutted two carriages of the train, however, no casualties were reported as there was no passenger on board.

No law enforcement personnel could be seen at or around the scene of the riot nor any rescue team reached there to deal with the emergency.

Earlier, violent protests against incessant loadshedding continued in several areas of the Punjab while one protestor also lost his life when protestors took to streets in Khanewal.

According to sources, protestors gathered outside Prime Minister Gilani’s special advisor Ahmed Yar Hiraj’s house and pelted stones. His guards then resorted to firing that injured three protestors, out of which one later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

In Faisalabad, demonstrators blocked Samundri Road and protested against unannounced power cuts while factory owners reached Mepco’s office.

Protests also took place in Gojra and Mandi Bahauddin where demonstrators blocked the main intersection.

In Sargodha, angry residents of the suburban areas damaged Wapda office where police were called to disperse the crowd and control the situation.

The protestors in Chakwal blocked the Lahore-Islamabad motorway. They burnt flags of a political party and chanted slogans against the government.

A large number of students also resorted to protest against power outages in Lower Dir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and blocked the Dir-Afghanistan highway.

On Monday, frustrated with persistent loadshedding, enraged residents torched the city police station gate and several police motorcycles in Chichawatni. They also attacked an MNA’s house due to which police has registered a case against 1,200 persons and arrested ten others who were allegedly involved in the violence.

That's the typical behavior of Pakistani protesters. They think they can solve their issues by destroying stuff belonging to their own country. Have you ever seen Pakistani protests against Israel? They tend to destroy & loot shops as well as burn tires in those protests too. Damaging their own country is their idea of a protest. I feel no pity for such morons.
