Electric cars Pakistan

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said on Saturday that battery-powered electric cars will soon arrive in Pakistan, ARY News reported.

He announced this during the launch of an upgraded version of the Lahore Chambers of Commerce website.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the government taking every necessary measure to make Pakistan economically strong, adding that credit for the revival of economic activities goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“Pakistan is among 18 countries who are making their own ventilators,” said the science and technology minister.
It is pertinent to mention here that a trailer loaded with around a dozen electric cars overturned on the National Highway near Sindh’s Nawabshah district on Friday.

The police said the vehicle was on its way from Karachi to Lahore when it flipped over in the Dino Machine area.
As a result, not only the trailer but the cars it was carrying were damaged, they added.

A police official relayed the electric cars were imported from South Korea and going to be introduced in the country for the first time. The value of each car is estimated at Rs9 million.

In December, the federal cabinet had approved Pakistan’s first Electric Vehicle Policy. The Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy and the Mobile Manufacturing Policy were endorsed by the federal cabinet following their approval by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on December 16.

When tesla boss says wait until cars are good enough to buy....why would we buy when we don't have electricity.

1. Range poor.
2. Charge times long.

3. Petrol and diesel all the way until electricity generated is sustainable and available

Then By your logic we dont even have enough petrol and diesel then why are we buying these cars.

Context is everything. The American market is different in that alternatives to EVs are numerous and still very cheap. And buyer expectations and requirements from EVs are pretty high.

With the current state of the car market, and what's on offer, the size of the country, and the price of petrol, it actually makes more sense in Pakistan to focus on EVs.

There are actually some similarities with the telecom industry, where some poorer countries were able to go straight to cell phones in the absence of landline infrastructure.

Not sure how many KM per day you drive , but I drive roughly 300 km per day in my Nissan Leaf..

Not enough

Depending on the chargers you use, I can have mine ready to go fully charging in 2 hours

2hr vs 5 min at a petrol pump

You can Generate enough power with solar panels to charge your car

What size panel bro? And long does it take to charge your car on a panel

Btw, do people realize how we produce electricity here in Pakistan? How costly is it? Petrol/cng cars will always be cheaper/accessible in Pakistan. And people are talking about solar panels. Do tell me how many people in Pakistan have solar panels in their homes, do tell how many businesses have their own private solar panels?

Like is there any realistic, logical reasoning behind going electric in Pakistan RIGHT NOW, nopes. Sure in future may be but not right now.

Just because there is trend, just because developed countries are going electric doesn't mean we have to copy them exactly right now, we have our own issues. Sure some people will gladly buy electric but there isn't logical or reasonable argument behind that purchase, its most probably just for the show or some other kind of stupid reason.

Bahi most of cars have fast charging and range depends upon how many power storage thingies are there..
EVs are way to go, much simpler to make also.
I might make one when I go to Pakistan have got a design on paper 😆 (not kidding)
