India has issued a global tender for the production of 110 30mm naval guns for $400 million. The tender has been sent to Israeli companies Elbit Systems and Rafael, as well as to Samsung Techwin, BAE Systems and EM Digital.
Italian company Oto Melara will not be permitted to participate in the tender because of an ongoing probe into charges of corruption against its parent company Finmeccanica, it was reported on defensenews.
Unlike the previous tender issued back in 2013, which was hasn't been carried out because of a demand to produce the gun barrel in India, this requirement was omitted from the current tender. The tender also includes electro-optical fire control systems (EOFCS) for the guns along with ammunition. The ammunition will be produced by India's state-owned Ordnance Factory Board.

This is not about artillery weapons, but rather about stabilized in high seas remotely-operated platform with its own day/night/all-weather sensors, in which you can install your own 25/30/35mm gun.

Yup,we are capable of doing so but the question is why should we when we can easily lay our hands unto the state of the art weaponry of both west,Israelis and the Russians and that too with ToT.Hence, instead of investing in the R&D of these weapons we divert our funds to make advanced IRBM/ICBM/SLBM,nuclear powered submarines,BMD system, cruise missiles all of which are more important to our country in the long run.Btw we have been license manufacturing an indigenous 30 mm Naval CRN-91 naval gun for more than 2 decades:coffee:.
