Today I watched a TV show , and it made me wonder what I was seeing
there was a segment which showed a crane being used to bring down animals on top of a 4-5 story building

So it seems , a Man looks after animals on Rooftop of a building i.e he is running some sort of a farm on top of a building in Karachi

So I was quite shocked at learning this story , I think while it is necessary to sacrifice animals but at same it is also important that the animal had lived a happy , normal life in a farm or natural habitat

The roof top of Pakistani buildings are normally concrete , and these roof tops heat up by summer heat which can raise to up to 45-49 degrees in summer

The whole idea of sacrifice is you are working with an animal which is happy and is quite deer to you

So how is this Sacrifice even , Halal , or legal in Islamic terms ?
Such treatment of animals is 100% illegal

A typical Roof in Pakistan looks like this

So this is not a normal habitat for the creature which is to be considered for sacrifice

Similarly farming on roof tops carries a risk of certain viruses spreading in to central city areas such as foot / mouth disease related to cows which has been a problem in East Asia not long ago

Typically a natural living environment for such animals is

So the practice of growing farm animals on Roof top buildings , and the story claimed the man was raising up to 16 cows on roof top certainly looks dodgy

Isn't it illegal just to even have cattle within the cities? I know for a fact that it is in Lahore.

That's really bad. Whenever I celebrate Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan, I sacrifice a healthy animals from our farm... and that's the practice by most of the people living in the villages ...however cities have these stupid practices due to the constraints of open areas. We need to develop a proper system using modern technology.

Well, I do not understand. In our religion also in some temples also there are "Sacrifice" of animals, be it hen, parrot, male goat, buffaloes etc. I eat meat like chicken, goat meat.

But why do we use the word "sacrifice"? I never created the animal whom I "sacrifice". If it is to eat then OK, not sacrifice. Sacrifice is totally different meaning. A soldier sacrifices his life for his country, not sacrifices another soldier.

In Islam we sacrifice our beloved animals for Allah (S.W.T). Read more about prophet Ibrahim (Abraham)A.S.

Cruelty against these animals have zero tolerance in Islam.

Some intervention is needed so that first the city rules are observed and there are farm lands for this kind of activities

While some will say no the animals are ok they don't care however it is not true
Below video show cases behavior of animals once they are freed to live in a green field

Sacrifice is certainly important however the animals still do have certain rights they are allowed to live in their natural habitat in Farms and open areas

Cruelty against people, animals and even trees is against Islam.

We have to respect all of Gods creations.

No wonder Karachi is one the least livable cities of the world. Free range farm birds have more space and room than Karachiites.

You are right and it’s unlawful for any animal to be treated like this. Sadly the developing world has quite a way to go before animal rights are seen to.
Can you guys consider a token sacrifice of one animal to observe Eid?

A message to serve national interest, PLEASE make sure the hides do not go to waste. Since last few years we are wasting hides worth millions of dollars each year as people are not aware of some basic things. First and most important, PLEASE get two bags of salt (per animal) before Eid. Make sure you put loads of salt on the hide after sacrifice. This protects it for a few days in which time it gets to the people who are professional and trained to preserve these for longer periods. You spending 50-60 Rs salt on the hide will actually save expensive hide and that would be great for the country.
