Egyptian FM: Daesh are an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has said that Egypt has provided the Security Council with information that will enable them to name countries that fund and support terrorism, namely Turkey and Qatar, warning of the risk of supporting political Islam.
Shoukry told MPs that the most active terrorist organisations in the world, including Daesh, are offshoots of the Muslim Brotherhood.
“All of these terrorist organisations were formed on the basis of the Muslim Brotherhood’s jihadist and Takfiri ideological foundations,” said Shoukry, “not to mention that most of its senior leaders were originally members of the Brotherhood”.
Questioning how terrorist organisations like Daesh fund themselves, Shoukry said it is clear that the money is being supplied through “a network of certain countries to fund these terrorist organisations.” The money is donated “to achieve political goals” in the Arab World, he added.
MP Mostafa El-Guindi said: “It is no secret that Turkey, Qatar and Muslim Brotherhood leaders living in these two countries are directing billions in cash to the North Sinai-based Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis group, which has declared allegiance to the Islamic State [Daesh] and claimed responsibility for the attacks on Coptic churches in Tanta and Alexandria on Sunday.”
After the Palm Sunday bombings that killed almost 50 people in Egypt, a number of MPs accused Turkey and Qatar of funding terrorism in Egypt.
