Probably the biggest obstacle in the division between Hamas and Fatah we spoke of earlier that plays into Israel's hands. How will it ever be possible for the creation of one, Palestinian state with these two opposing and critical conditions? It's not just convincing Israel and the international community of a 2-state solution, but how do you create the Palestinian state when half has already agreed to disarm and the other is vehemently opposed to it and will never agree to it? Putting Gaza aside for a minute, for Israel to agree on a armed and unified Palestinian state means they'd agree on the West Bank having it's own military. What's the likelihood of that happening?

Totally agree, the PA and Hamas, and the other remaining parties need have a unified stance. I don't think arms should be discussed. I do believe they all need be parties under PLO leadership, which was done before but not much has been heard of it recently. The PA/PLO can head the diplomacy. It's also a platform where they discuss and come to on agreement on any issue before going official with it. This has to happen soon and I hope they work on it, the Palestinian people want that to move forward. Hopefully they get the message.

You recall what Egypt had to do in order to get it's land back to 1967 borders. Not only offer a peace package to the UN that was undoubtedly going to get rejected, and was, but then start a major war and bring the superpowers in to mediate then offer peace and then condition it based on complete withdrawal to 1967 borders. If that's what it took for an already existing and separate nation with it's own government and military and Arab allies and a superpower ally to make that happen, one can't conceivably imagine what it would take for a return to 1967 borders for a Palestinian state.

Great point, it's not a easy feat, even while there are differences to each situation. I believe if a two state solution can move forward, connecting Gaza and the West Bank, the PA can administrate both territories. The military factions in Gaza will remain, but Hamas will not administrate Gaza. In the West Bank, there can be a Palestinian force akin to the Lebanese army, heavily demilitarized but enough to secure the state. And there should be a long term ceasefire in regards to Gaza/Israel. My worry is Israel sees enough worth in remaining and eventually annexing the West Bank. Not sure who or what could convince them to see it a different way.

Egypt doesn't control Gaza's air or maritime space, Israel does. Egypt doesn't have a buffer zone WITHIN gaza's territory that eats up a significant portion of an already small area, Israel does. Egypt doesn't institute restrictions on the territory of Gaza, Israel does. Egypt doesn't reserve the right to enter Gaza at will with it's military and arrest or kill whomever it labels as terrorist as it pleases, Israel does. Egypt is not considered the occupier of Gaza by the UN and the International Community due to all these restrictions, Israel is.

So please, stop with the phony perception that Israel is so kind with those "gates" open 24/7.
