The Egyptian Ministry of Defence and Military Production concluded an agreement with Russia’s Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) corporation and arms export agency Rosoboronexport to license-build 500 T-90MS main battle tanks, local media reported on Saturday, citing sources in the defense industry.

According to the sources in the Russian defense industry, Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) corporation will build a facility to assemble T-90MS tanks under license in Egypt.

Complete localization of T-90MS tanks in Egypt is not anticipated, as a large number of parts of T-90MS tanks will be imported from Russia.

T-90MS is an export variant of the Russian-made T-90 third-generation main battle tank. It features powerful weaponry, modern fire control system, combined steel and composite armor and high maneuverability. It is capable of fighting in all weather, round the clock and in any climate.

By its combat efficiency, the T-90MS considerably outperforms its predecessor while its modular design allows engineers to build up its operational performance upon subsequent upgrades.

. . . .
Buying spree continues. Looks like they are really expecting a fight soon or ditching US supplied inventory.
US stuff is too expensive. Not possible to equip in large number.

Also Americans always sell scaled down degraded products to its customers. Abrahams being prime example which were always sold to foreign customers with inferior Armour.

.
Only if we had sided with the GCC, we would have reaped both military and economic benefits. Their economic situation is somewhat similar to ours based on taking loans from IMF, but the military shopping spree is remarkable. Our future in terms of military balance would have been secured, but we succumbed to the wishes of minority group putting the majority at the risk. Pakistaniyat should be put first irrespective of all other factor, most importantly excluding decisions based on religious sentiments.

America is very fastidious. They will not transfer technology to customers

This deal is at least 2 years old. It's just that it was made in secrecy -- or at least the contract was never announced publicly -- but we all knew most of the details and discussed it here to no end back then. This is just because it has finally come out in the public that it's being announced by Defense blog.

They're going to be assembled in Egypt as part of a ToT deal just like the Abrams were which then received a special, Egyptian made air filter that was developed by Egyptian engineers working on the tanks because the original American filters were getting too clogged too quickly from all the silky sand in Egypt's desert areas and suffocating the engine of air. And so they developed this new filter that wouldn't get clogged at all and actually allowed more air through to the engine and the Americans got PISSED OFF!!! Because the Egyptians never told them about the filter and any modification of any sorts that gets done to American equipment needs to be put in writing and submitted for approval BEFORE being applied to the equipment.

So the Egyptians were like "yo, relax and take it easy, it's only a stupid filter for crying out loud" and the US reps were still being dickish about it. So this is most likely the result of that incident as well as the fact that Egypt has 1,400 Abrams and 1300 M60A3 and a few hundred old upgraded T-62s that these will eventually replace. There is also talk about a deal to manufacture them and sell them to African countries.

a lots of thing going on at the same time in Eygpt.

It's about trustworthiness and restrictions to please other nations more than it's about price. As if the Americans and their babies can never fight except with far superior weapons.

Loans to build our nation as quick as we can not for arms purchase. These loans are paid back with their benefits. You may want to take a look on some of the Egyptian mega national projects.

Egypt paid back more than $20B with their benefits in less than 4 months.
