Belly dancing is haram and it use to be done in women harams in them days but the westerns liked the dancing then it turned into a mix gendered event this happened when the western world colonized the arab world.

So after the advent of Islam in Turkey was Belly dancing banned?

Are both the act of belly dancing and watching someone perform it are banned in Islam? I.e can the act of belly dancing be performed by non-Muslims and Muslims can still watch? The reason I ask this is that the Sultans of Turkey had Eastern EU Christian boys as Janissaries (Body guards). Did they also have eastern EU girls performing belly dancing in their Harems ?

The Queens also had eunuch's serving them (Men which were castrated which is also haram in islam so non muslims use to do it and sell them to the sultans) watching belly dabcers is haram for men as you can't see a womens awra which is her body so the dance was done either by concubines or slave girls to entertain the sultans female family and the dance was done by the concubines to entertain the sultan himself in he's private chambers btw kathak is allowed as the girls were dressed decent but mujra knowdays is not as girls get a bit vulgar when they dance.
